Was wondering if anyone has run into this problem with Dynadot dropcatching. Today I put in a order for a name that Dynadot caught and I appeared to be the only bidder on, however the name still went to auction and it clearly said 1 bid from 1 bidder(me) now I got outbid by someone else in a very short amount of time??? I thought that if your the only bidder then the name is yours??? Am I missing something here or is it time to tell Dynadot to take their crappy services and shove it?

As I recall, If you are the first person to back order and then others place one, you are listed as the high bidder, because you were first, but it is open for bidding to the others and they are notified.

Lots of people place back orders at the last minute. I dont think this is as shady as you are seeing it?

The getting outbid part isnt the problem, the problem is the one bid from one bidder message that it said when checking the status of the name however not being awarded the name and then shortly after seeing another bidder in the auction

A lot of people back order at the last minute. Have you contacted them to explain? Anything is possible, but I wouldn't leap straight to conspiracy. Every time I have been in a back order bid situation there, the first person that placed the back order showed as 1 bid, 1 bidder.

I was actually thinking that may be the case since i put in a order for this one kind of early

I backorder with Dynadot all the time and have never had this happen, all I can think is there must have been 2 backorders placed.

Are you sure this was a Drop Catching Auction (which drops) or was it an Expiring Auction (which doesn't drop). I'd be surprised if it's the first, like you mention in the first post. If it's the 2nd, then it's fare game for snipers to beat you to the auction. I've had it done many times to me. You must be specific about what you are asking about.
