Hey guys, I'm about to purchase a very expensive domain (never spent this amount before) and just wanted to ask what checks you carry out pre purchase.

The domain is indexed in Google but isn't ranking well for the keyword (not surprising seeing it's currently a parking page and there are only 130 links to the site).

The only thing I can see out of the ordinary is that there is no record on Archive.org as the site supposedly blocks caching (not sure what this means!) What are your thoughts on this?

So yeah, any feedback would be much appreciated as I don't want to pay XX,XXX for a dud!

check sales of similar names for a comparisation of the worth of it, check the availability of the name in other extensions, check carefully if it is not an IDN, sign up for domaintools,maybe you can get more info from the past about this name.....don't buy it on ebay...and DON'T!!!!! pay with paypal or other services, just use escrow....

"blocks caching"? if you mean the server was configured to prevent browsers from caching site pages, i doubt archive.org scripts pay any attention to any headers of this kind...

Def use escrow because paypal is a bad option for high priced names especially if its the figures you are talking about.

what is the purpose of this purchase? If you want to develop, check to see if it is banned/de-indexed by google or black listed by any anti-phishing site.
