Guys,

What time of the day do domains drop / get deleted so you can reg them (GMT +/-)? and do all the TLD's drop at the same time?

Thanks :)

So, I have tried to go and reg some of the good domains I new were dropping today - however the whois database only seems to update 2 or 3 times a day so when I tried to reg (knowing they had already dropped thanks to the info above) godaddy told me I couldn't because the whois hadn't updated and was reporting back that they were still pending deletion - but I have just checked and the database has just updated and they have been snapped up - What am I missing? is there some registrars that keep an up-to-date watch on the time and date so you can jump straight in? this is my assumption as it appears this is what has happened... If so who is the best registrar to do this with?

Thanks for the help Guys!

hi
drop time is a tricky business and if you have money than you can get good domain names.
unless you are big registra like snapnames, enom pool etc which have powerful software that would snatch good domain names right away. Also their are other big players llike buydomains etc who snatch domains right away through their affiliation with registra companies and sell the domain name at higher price.
all the registra have a special deal with backordering companies like enom snapnames pool etc so they would drop the domain name "legally" ;) but the domain name would end up to one of the backordering companies they are affilate with.
sometimes registra like enom etc won't even release the name after "they are expire" if they like it they would keep the domain name i already had this experience read my other topic about this.
Unfournately ICANN doesn't do anything about this.. they would hold seminar at exotic location like argentina and create more useless extension like .md .travel .jobs etc to make more money for registra.
As always money rules and common folks like us get screw :(

Something I've never been able to get an answer for:

Domains are supposed to drop at 2 PM Eastern. But is that Eastern time or Eastern Standard time? Is the drop time affected by daylight savings or is it always Eastern Standard time (so the drop time right now in New York would actually be 3 PM)?
