Are there still drop catch services that give you the name if you are the first in queue?

Thanks.

GoDaddyGoDaddy
godaddy for example. It looks like they are good at catching .us names.
I know of some other backorder services working on a first come first served basis but they do not have the firepower of the big players like pool & snap

GoDaddy does not hand you over the domain anymore. Even if you place a Backorder and they are successful in catching it, it will still go to auction on TDNAM and you're $18.95 will merely act as a first bid in a 7 day auction. Any way for them to make more money...

Well, they have to make back the $$$ they lost due to selling domains below cost somehow, now, don't they?

I just think the way they offer backorders is rather deceptive. Sure, if you take the time to look, you'll find the stipulations of the backorder, but even they aren't clear. It states that "If the name you are interested in has gone to auction at The Domain Name Aftermarket, the $18.99 cost will be used to place the opening bid on the name." But it doesn't state what the conditions for it going to auction are or that all domains go to auction...

Also, in order to buy through TDNAM you have to have a membership, which is another $4.99 you may not have been aware of at the time of placing the backorder.

If the name is REGISTERED at godaddy, it WILL go to TDNAM auction first, then the GD backorder, then drop for other registrars if not backordered. If not registered at godaddy, the backorder will be the only shot from them in a free for all with Pool and Snapnames. UNLESS, the name is registered with one of the pool or snap partners and goes through their auction process before a real drop.
