What's YOUR strategy for acquiring domain names????

Stick to the basics I say. Stick to the rivers and lakes that you're used to!

The foolish domainer chases trends. The fashion of the day. But remember, STYLE is forever.

My strategy is very simple: catchy domains, NOT flashy domains.

For instance, if Facebook came out with a new cryptocurrency tomorrow called F'Her'InTheBungHole, would you go out and register all the interations of that name? I would not. But I know many of you will.

That's what separates the true domain warrior from the waterboys. If you don't know what side you're on, trust me, you're on the wrong side. It's a MAN's game.

The lesson of the day is clear: stick to the basics. Mine are GEO domains, Healthcare, Transportation, Food and Beverages, Pets, Aviation.

    Class dismissed.

After you buy the river and lakes you can chase a few waterfalls.
    Take over the ocean.

How to profit from domain name trends.

    1. Make a post on NP to convince everyone to ignore trends so you have less competition to register the best names when a new trend emerges.

    2. Profit.

But in all seriousness there are some so called trends that are nothing more than a fanciful waste of money, dare I say most so called trends.

So I stick to what I know and weight which trends I think will actually have traction in my field of knowledge.

Waterfalls = trends, news topics, product names, futuristic technologies.

Rivers and ponds = the niches and keywords you're used to.

    Ocean = all possibilities

Rivers and ponds are good for getting your feet wet. There are rivers I enjoy visiting, but if a premium name is to be had at at a good price, then take me deep-sea diving. I like having a little diversity in my portfolio!

I have dueling personalities of both developer and domainer. My strategy is to buy names as if I am the end user, but at reseller-friendly prices. Sell-through rates are so low in domaining; there's a pretty good chance I am the sole end user for many of them.

Yes. Stay away from the waterfalls, and also don't buy names in languages, TLDs, or niches that you don't understand. Do a little research. Actually, do a lot of research! I've learned tons about all kinds of different niches from googling phrases I encountered while scanning daily .COM drop lists, and I've acquired good names for resale along the way. It's a grind, but I love it!

Gosh...Waterfalls, rivers/ponds and oceans. Excellent "cliff notes" for beginners! When I "go fishing" for names..this is what I'll remember. Perfect and thank you(y)

Never liked the song. Although it sounds great. Good instrumentals. And singing . The words logistically impossible since waterfalls are in fact stationary. The water isn't. But never in my life have I seen a waterfall actually go for a walk much less run to the point that you need to chase it! Lol

    Just saying.

My strategy (so it seems or I'm told) is register TM domains and domains that take advantage of a bad situation and p*ss off fellow domainers. That they lose respect for me and no one buys from me at least from NP.

    Just kidding guys!

A good idea is a good idea until it's not!
