For sale or possible joint venture: My bidding position in tomorrow's Pool auction for DoNotCall.com.

"The Federal Trade Commission said it would resume accepting numbers Thursday after shutting down new registration last week in response to a federal court order that blocked the agency from operating the list that already contains than 52 million phone numbers ..." FULL STORY: Do-Not-Call-List Resumes Accepting Phones

What does this mean to you? Well, the FTC's official URL is now DoNotCall.org, after having foolishly allowed the .com and .net to expire. Here's the resulting payoff: The current Overture count (August) for DoNotCall.com is a staggering 44,582! DoNotCall.org shows an impressive, but comparatively paltry 7,864 and the .net lags at 421. Wanna guess where the vast majority of that fresh and ongoing traffic is about to head?!!

If you're interested in acquiring my auction position, be prepared to quickly pre-post into my account an amount equal to your anticipated bid cap.

There are presently 4 bids in the auction, with a high bid of $150. However, as a result of the FTC's unexpected announcement, expect the bidding to skyrocket and be prepared to win. The auction closes at about noon tomorrow (EST).

TERMS: I will yield my position in the auction to whomever is willing to bid the highest amount and promptly wire the necessary funds or transmit a binding letter of credit to my bank. If your bid is not successful, every nickel of your funds will be wired back to your bank within two hours of the close of the auction, save whatever bank charges I incur for the respective wire transfers. If your bid wins the domain, but does not exhaust the posted funds, any residual funds will be returned within the same time-frame. If you wish to speak to a bank officer prior to wiring funds, I will be pleased to provide you that comfort.

In the event of a successful bid, you agree to pay me a one-time royalty equal to fifteen percent (15%) of the successful bid amount, plus reimburse me for applicable bank charges, both of which are promptly payable before the domain is pushed or transfered to your domain account.

Of course, I will consider waiving my royalty fee if you present a viable joint venture proposal that makes my toes tingle.

All offers and inquiries must be promptly transmitted to me via email, a link to which should be displayed beneath this post. All correspondence will be held in strict confidence.

Time is of the essence. If offers are forthcoming, I will render my decision sometime tonight, in order for the bidder/partner to facilitate the wire transfer in the morning. If need be, a PayPal transfer may be possible, However, I have no idea what restrictions and/or fees PayPal might impose.

I recognize that this is a rather unorthodox offering, but it's an exciting and unexpected opportunity that screams for serious domain speculators and traffic merchants to pay heed. If nothing else, I'd love to see the spoils of victory benefit someone other than BuyDomains or UltSearch. They're already fat enough.

Good luck to all.

Just to inform all US folks, the right domain name is www.donotcall.gov. Just added my home phone number to minimize telemarketer.

Nice catch on .com domain. Goodluck.

Regarding paypal transaction fee = amount * 3.25 or 3.75%.
