Nice name!
DomainUniverse.org sold for $1200 and it is somewhat comparable, although I would think your name is a little bit better. I would think something low to mid $$$$ is about right. Good luck finding a buyer!

I am surprised that people buy them for that much and then let them drop. I guess I should have looked into its availability and considered it haha! I hope you do well with the domain! It, also seems a good name to to me, and .org seem solid sales recently. Best of luck with it @Cruncher

Thanks MetBob,I totally agree,I don't understand why someone would pay that and let it drop? Or would of at least thought someone else would have caught it?

I'm going to play a little devil's advocate here and try to build in a little more context.

Let's consider the following:
  • OP just hand-registered this name today.
  • Prior to that, the name was owned by BuyDomains.com since 2011. They deleted it at the end of 2017. The assumption would be that that they couldn't sell it for 6 years and opted to let it go.
  • Since 2011, only 10 .org sales beginning with "domain" have been reported in the aftermarket.
  • The highest was DomainLabs.org for $4,500 in 2011. 5 others sold for low X,XXX, including DomainUniverse.org in 2013 (as mentioned by @MetBob)
  • DomainLabs.org is currently available to hand-register.
  • DomainUniverse.org is currently available to hand-register. (EDIT: looks like it's not now, @Cruncher :))
  • DomainWorld.com has been owned since 1997, and it is not an active site.
For me, all this info starts to build a pretty clear picture, from which I'm comfortable concluding the following:
  • The "Domain" keyword is not desirable in the .org extension
  • There has been no particular demand for this specific domain since 2011, thus prompting BuyDomains to drop it.
Based on this, I'm giving the name a reg fee appraisal. Keep the asking price very low, though, and maybe you'll luck into a sale.

I'm not very comfortable with .org names, but they seem to be good for two things: Crypto and Non-profits. If a name isn't one of those, or a solid single word, I would stay away, especially if you also don't know much about .org names.

This is a brandable name. For me, those belong with a .com extension, or a suitable cctld, or occasionally with some popular/premium terms in ngtlds.

So much in your excellent analysis, @Joe Nichols, that is applicable to far more than the two domain names in discussion in this thread. The idea of asking whether there is evidence that domain name has relevance with that extension is both obvious and overlooked too often (and the automated domain appraisals do a terrible job at this aspect obviously). I think the time that has passed without a sale does not necessarily mean that it is not saleable, but I agree it should be taken into account.

I fully agree that a domain going unsold for years isn't a negative in itself, but I think that in this case it does count as a strike against the name, particularly since we can assume there was an active attempt at selling the name by the previous owner.

More and more, as I'm browsing available names, when I find one I like, I try to look for reasons why not to buy it. If I count enough strikes against the name, I feel good about letting it go.

Of course everyone is different, and everyone has to figure out their own process. Heck, I still buy the odd name for reasons that I can't justify except to say that I really like the sound of it. I just try not to do that too often. :)
