anybody tried to cancel a private domain registration with godaddy-domainsbyproxy recently?
seems like they are trying to make that process as difficult as they can do. it isn't hard to guess why eh? :)

well, tried both IE and Chrome browsers, but got some weird "unknown popup error", and the private registration status does not change. so be aware, you might get annoyed while trying the same.

not fair at all. all their support team can do was redirecting me to gd support. now I suspect the worse : have a hunch that they'll request some money now. what a world ))

I cancelled a bunch a couple of weeks ago without any problem.
You're trying to cancel them through the domainsbyproxy site not godaddy right?

Right. The ones I'm trying to cancel are soon-to-expire ones or just expired ones. Might that be the cause of problem?

My aim is renewing those expired names without that private registration fee which seems to be automatically added by goDaddy renewal fees, and no way to remove that priv. reg. items from the shopping basket.

Thinking of testing it with some other domain of mine which expires the next year.

hmm, ya all of mine were 2011 expiration dates, I'll see if I have any soon to be expiring domains with privacy

Update * None of my soon to expire domains have privacy on them, so unfortunately, I can't test cancelling any of mine.

For the domains that aren't yet expired you could always transfer them out of godaddy.

Expiration date does not matter. I've just tried, and it simply does not work! Sending another support request.

The error is : Unknown error loading popup. Activated popups, and tried with IE, Safari, and Chrome browsers so far. Need a Firefox or what? lol.

Thanks anyway for sharing Triplepen.

Cheers.

I just cancelled some more, took only seconds and the privacy is gone. No error messages.

Strange. Then it must be a problem with my account, but again, they cannot help?

I wasn't clear by your description whether you have actually been logging into your domainsbyproxy.com which has a different account number than your goDaddy account "for enhanced security" I'm guessing once you turn things off in their control panel, it won't be in the goDaddy basket.

Yeah, I know that domainsbyproxy uses different userids than GoDaddy. Actually I solved the problem late night yesterday. And how? By downloading and setting up a new browser. Then I turned the popup blocker off. That way it worked, and it was easy to cancel all private registrations I want. Nevertheless the problem remained unsolved. I took a screenshot of that error, and sent it to domainsbyproxy.com . Nobody could understand why, but the same thing could happen to you too some day. So you'd better turn your popup blockers (and possible some other browser add-ons and extensions) off before you cancel domainsbyproxy.com private registrations.

Cheers,

Dorian.
