I have about 600 domains with DomainApps. As I piled on my valuable time to develop each one, I repeatedly asked them for a way to back-up my work, only to be told that DomainApps does not have back-up. So ridiculous not to have a way to back-up, that I found the urge to ask and try to convince them to allow access to a way of backing up. I depended heavily on the YouTube App in all the domains I developed at DomainApps.com. Now that it's gone, I'm looking at a lot the time spent developing my domain going to waste. I wrote to DomainApps Support, here's an excerpt;

All YouTube videos via the App are dead.
When did this problem start?
What is domainapps.com doing about it?

Hello Behtaj, There was a YouTube API change last week which has caused the error that you see. We have been in contact with the App developer to determine if this can be corrected to activate the video feed again on the app. Otherwise, the YouTube App will be deactivated altogether.

I feel this is Google's way of excluding sites such as ours. How much do you know about that?
Also if the youtube app is deactivated, will DomainApps stay in business?
I hope DomainApps is not quitting, but If it does, will you then provide a good way of backing up all the hard work I've done on my sites? Manual copy/paste isn't a realistic approach in this age of technology.

Hello Behtaj, The YouTube App is not related to Google or their algorithm for ranking sites on their search engine listings. The YouTube App is one of several apps that we offer, so if that one goes out of production, it does not mean we will go out of business. We have previously had to discontinue previous Apps and either replaced them with other apps or simply discontinued them without replacement. Regards, David

05/24/15 09:10 PM EST Hi David,
The YouTube App is not related to Google, but I have a suspicion that the reason it's not working is due to Google's changes.
The thought of this App going away and not be replaced with something the same or better is nerve wracking for me. I've put a lot of time in content and from the limited information I know about Domain Apps, not having a replacement to the YouTube App, spells disaster. If I'm wrong please explain why so I can feel secure here with all the work I have at stake.
Once again, please provide a way for me to back up my work. Doing a copy/paste isn't acceptable.

Hello Behtaj, We will likely make available a backup/export tool for the content platform in the coming months. I don't have any other export options for you at this time (other than cut/paste).
The YouTube app is one of multiple apps that we offer. That particular app being unavailable does not spell disaster for Domain Apps. [David is missing the point. I heavily depended on the YouTube App on the developement of hundreds of domains] We offer other apps on the platform, as well as the parking platform which is the standard parking platform without any apps at all. We also do allow custom content, so you could link directly to any videos that you make (or to any already on YouTbube) while it is determined if this app will be functional anymore. Regards, David

I'm glad to hear it's likely that a backup/export tool may be coming soon. It would be great to know when this is no longer just "likely" and it becomes a ''scheduled to be added tool''.
Part of my problem may be lack of knowledge about DomainApps. While I have learned a lot, I used the YouTube App only on most of the domains I worked on. So for me, its absence is disasterous. [In my study of all DomainApps' tools, I found most of them of little value for my sites. The YouTube App was the one I found useful and used it heavily.]
If there was a tutorial on DomainApps, it would help open my eyes to other valuable ways I can use DomainApps and not be so dependant on the one YouTube app.
Please look at these sample sites and let me know if I've missed a useful App: www-HealClean-com; www-Botanist-me; www-ZenPsychic-com; www-Bred-me; www-Aced-me; www-EyeContract-com; www-Memorialize-me
I can easily be the DomainApps Poster Child. If I've missed important attributes, please educate me ASAP.

05/25/15 01:52 PM EST Hello Behtaj, All of the Apps that we currently offer are located on this page in your account: www-domainapps-com/domainapps/ I would imagine if you were using the YouTube app, then a similar option could be the photo gallery app. You can install as many of them as you want if you feel they are in line with what your sites are about. Some of them (such as the hotel app for example) may not be great fits for these particular sites. But you can add them if you want to test them out.

06/03/15 11:42 PM EST Hi David,
The photo gallery app could never replace the YouTube app.
Photos don't contain the necessary information people are looking for and that which I'm trying to provide in wholesome vertical websites with real useful information for visitors.
Providing useless photos without the information visitors are looking for is futile to a website. Some websites are an exception. For example those about photography, dance, or tattoos. In sites such as these, I have used the photo gallery app already. [In addition to using the YourTube App]
Without the YouTube app, we have 2 major problems:
1. [Lack of] Delivery of information in the format many are looking for today (Video).
2. Lack of information period.
Let me help solve the problem with the YouTube app. Correct me if I'm wrong... I'm convinced the problem stems in Google's desire to kick out frivolous sites from its search results. If this is the case, I have a solution and would like to brain storm with DomainApps ASAP. Please have someone in charge call me at 424-222-3331 Behtaj.

06/04/15 08:10 AM EST Hello Behtaj, This issue is not related to Google or their site indexing software. This is about YouTube's api changing and the app not having been changed to match it. Unfortunately, It appears that the app will no longer be offered as it is not being updated by the developer of the app. Regards, David

1. The developer of the app isn't updating it most likely due to the fact that Google is trying to exclude this sort of app from participating in the indexing. So in my best estimation it is related. I have a solution. Please give me the contact information to the developer. I would like to brainstorm with them. We can solve this problem and satisfy Google at the same time.
2. Meanwhile I have hundreds of sites heavily depending of the YouTube app and I need a solution. The photo app is not it. Over the years I have learned about all the app at DomainApps. Most were not useful for my sites. Do you have a suggestion other than the photo app?
3. If the YouTube app is not the most valuable app at DomainApps, tell me what is. If I've missed it in all the learning I've done about DomainApps, I'd like to go back and learn more about it.
[ I will post updates as I have them]
