What good, accurate bulk checkers are out there at the moment?

I rarely check one or two domains at the time and my workflow has evolved more around big lists. So one of my daily annoyances has been Namecheap's bulk checker that checks only 50 domains per query. Their API gives 100 per query but after a while starts to throw generic 500 errors which I guess is their non-aggressive way to tell you to stop. Internet.bs has a bit better bulk checker (limited to 100 as well) but that forced/added .us domain check even if you type foo.com drives me crazy.

I just launched one today that lets you check 5k per day. Check it out here: http://www.bulkavailability.com If you have any suggestions for additional features you'd like to have let me know.

Nice share Michael. You plan on getting an API going for it? Also, are the whois responses in real time or delayed by 15-30 seconds?

No plans for an API, but as I have time I'll add more features, like pre-populated seed keyword lists for generating domains (Geo, professions, common prefixes, etc). So for example once we have a Geo list loaded, you could click a few buttons and generate a list of several thousand [City]Attorneys.com domains for example.

It isn't doing WHOIS checks, it is doing DNS checks. You couldn't use this for drop catching or anything, but with that you're better off using the drop order anyway rather than doing avail checks.
