Eleven days ago I made $2,239 from auctioning off OregonLawyers.com on eBay (I got it 2 years ago for $43 from a snapnames reseller drop). Idle money is wasted money. So I reinvested 15 % of it tonight.

I couldn't resist the opportunity to buy DomainVlog.com, DropVlog.com, and BackorderVlog.com after reading and seeing a vlog in action. Anyone else see one?

I also bought:

Alabamavlog.com
Alaskavlog.com
Arizonavlog.com
Arkansasvlog.com
Coloradovlog.com
Connecticutvlog.com
Delawarevlog.com
Georgiavlog.com
Idahovlog.com
Illinoisvlog.com
Iowavlog.com
Kansasvlog.com
Kentuckyvlog.com
Louisianavlog.com
Mainevlog.com
Marylandvlog.com
Massachusettsvlog.com
Minnesotavlog.com
Mississippivlog.com
Missourivlog.com
Montanavlog.com
Nebraskavlog.com
Nevadavlog.com
NewHampshirevlog.com
NewJerseyvlog.com
NewMexicovlog.com
NorthCarolinavlog.com
NorthDakotavlog.com
Ohiovlog.com
Oklahomavlog.com
Oregonvlog.com
RhodeIslandvlog.com
SouthCarolinavlog.com
SouthDakotavlog.com
Tennesseevlog.com
Utahvlog.com
Vermontvlog.com
Virginiavlog.com
Washingtonvlog.com
WestVirginiavlog.com
Wisconsinvlog.com
Wyomingvlog.com

I just saw a little potential here to use these state domains for tourism or something related. I think WashingtonVlog.com has the greatest potential.

In any event, since I purchased them for a discounted registration fee I thought it was worth the risk.

On a closing note, I read that new vlogging software (Vlog-it) is coming out soon that will make producing a quality video log easy and inexpensive. Maybe it will catch on. At least google thinks it has potential. They already have a beta version of a video search page.

Any thoughts here by our creative and intuitive NPers?

No. I am not asking for appraisals. I just wanted everyone's kneejerk opinion about vlogs.

Nice pre-play (And taking a risk on beating the rush to the tech), but my knee-jerk reaction is that it'll be a no-go.
True space and bandwidth are both becoming more available, but I don't think it's quite to that level for the "mass market" yet...
However, I'd love to be wrong, for your sake and mine :gl:

I think vlog with something people want to see better, you cannot see a domain. But bikini vlog sure a video blog where people send their video for a contest, or something like Home vlog or car vlog. IMO

CBS) For those striving to stay on the cutting edge, blogging is so "last year." Now, it's all about "vlogging."

CBS News Correspondant Jim Axelrod reports video blogging is the latest trend in Internet posting.

Last October, vlogger Andrew Baron launched Rocketboom.com on an ambitious five-day-a-week schedule.

"I just could see that there were all these bloggers that were doing commentary on the news," Baron says. "The next step is to obviously do that with video."

Baron creates the "vlog" with Amanda Congdon, who was picked from hundreds of aspiring actresses who applied to put on the three-minute daily blog.

Rocketboom cyber-culls what it calls video nuggets from the Web. More and more, it also dabbles in news.

One two-minute episode shows a range of features, including a blender that works by yelling at it and a a vest that simulates hugs.

"We don't really hold back," says Congdon.

In just nine months, 50,000 viewers are logging in.

Production costs for Rocketboom are low, since they use just the basics โ€” a camera, computer, table, chair and a map that hangs behind the set.

"I think it's somewhere around $25 a day," Baron says.

And with costs so low, there is money to be made.

"If we were to put a 15 second ad at the end of all of our shows, that would garner us a quarter of a million dollars annually," Baron says. "That is sort of what the value is of our show right now."

It wasn't that long ago that only multi-national corporations could afford to broadcast audio and video. But vlogging is suddenly putting that power in the hands of just about anyone. Vloggers around the world are signing up as Rocketboom.com correspondants.

Zadi Diaz was a Rocketboom viewer, and is now a correspondent in Los Angeles. Diaz thinks younger people are more comfortable in front of a camera โ€” even without training.

"I think that the camera isn't as intrusive to our generation," Diaz says. "We kind of see cameras all over the place."

For vloggers, it's all happening faster than they can click.

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback about vlogs.

No one knows if vlogs will endure the test of time. I have looked at them and can see their potential as a marketing medium.

I plan to hire a hot babe to shoot a vlog. It will be a short 15-20 second infomercial about getting a mortgage. Of course the vlog will be embedded into our mortgage site, which has a separate address.

I plan to run a small ad in the real estate section of the Sunday newspaper:

MortgageVlog.com

I own LoansVlog.com too, but I thought MortgageVlog.com sounded better.

If this fails, I'll go back to the stock market with TradeVlog.com.

As for the rest of the promising vlog names, they appear to be going fast. It reminds me of when I first started on the net and passed on registering some all of those available great domains.

So, we will see if my little $250 investment over the weekend pays off for me. I'll let you know if it does.

More vlogs

There are still plenty of keyword vlog names available. If vlogs take off, then type-ins for theses vlog keywords will be good.

I registered a few porn ones a few minutes ago. I couldn't help myself. They were just sitting there. I registered, and don't tell my family, f***vlog.com, s***vlog.com, farmvlog.com, and another 4 syllable one beginning with the letter m. I am so ashamed, but the thought of a big sale down the road helps me to cope.

Who among us wouldn't have registered these vulgar keywords back in the 90s if we had known what they'd be worth today?
