When searching domain names, some websites use http while others use https in the URL. If you are looking for domains & don't want others to spy on what you are searching & do domain tasting, is it better to search for domains through registrars that use https?

Well, the domain name registrar know what you search and last time, it is known that domain registrar register those domain name after a few week.

It don't really matter whether you search through http or https :D

Then what is the point that some registrars use https instead of http?

To protect your credit card information. They don't need to do it until the checkout process but every little helps I suppose :)

But having the https when searching for available names, doesn't that help from others that might be spying on what you are searching, then domain tasting the names you've searched?

Usually it's the registrar who monitors domain queries, not outside parties, so it wouldn't make a difference. https:// signifies that transmitted data is encrypted.

exactly. there should also be a padlock icon at the bottom of your browser if it's https. if you doubleclick it you'll see the level of encryption provided. a lot of websites (especially financial ones) use https for login information - not just for creditcard transactions.
