I’m on the lookout for domain name registrars that accept prepaid credit cards and do not mandate multi-factor authentication (MFA) for account access. This is crucial for me as losing access to a second factor—such as email—can happen anytime, particularly if providers unexpectedly lock users out. In such cases, domain sellers often request ID verification to confirm ownership, which I’d prefer to avoid. I’m specifically interested in registrars that either eliminate the need for MFA or utilize anonymous second factors, like passkeys or one-time login codes that I can store securely. Registrars that rely on email or phone numbers for secondary authentication will not meet my criteria.
