Any thoughts on http://www.isour.biz which is a re-direct service I just started? Looking for some opinions and suggestion... With this website you can create yourname.isour.biz (business) yourname.isour.org (orginization) yourname.isour.ws (website) I created this website because many of the other redirection services out there just don't make sense. Like yourname.uni.cc or yourname.biz.ly etc. and all the others out there. I am just looking for suggestions/comments. This post is not ment to be spam (looking for suggestions/review).

Is there relevence to the word "isour"? That is the first thing that struck me.

I think there is. Consider this sentence using Avid Website Deisgn as a business name: Avid Website Design is our business --> avidwebsitedesign.isour.biz (meaning our business is Avid Website Design)
Certainly makes more sense then AvidWebsiteDeisgn.biz.ly or AvidWebsiteDesign.uni.cc (to name a few)
Right?

I think it's a play in the common โ€œiโ€ prefix, like iMac, iTunes, etc. It would be a great site for promoting poor tasting grapes. iSour.com

Of course it's actually โ€œis ourโ€. A really cleaver play on .biz

Great idea, great name, great site.

One question, why don't you offer the option of an MX record? Getting people to use your names for their email really ties them in.

Thanks for the suggestion PrimaComputer. I just started this website and was looking into email redirection and figured out how to do it. It should be available in the near future :)

ahhh... I completely missed that on the first read.

I read it as "iSour.biz"

as "IsOur.biz" it makes a whole heck of a lot more sense.

I like it... good idea...

IdahoRealEstate.IsOur.biz

I'm there

Wow IdahoFarmer thanks for pointing that out I never thought of that :) I posted something on the website to make it more clear. But great observation yeah iSour does not make sense at all :)

I think there's a problem in that "is our" concatenates to "isour", which sounds like a new Apple product aimed at those who like things especially tart. More than someone reading "is our biz", it just looks like there's something especially "sour" about the business attached to it.

I'd consider something like "announce" or "publicize" in an extension like ".name" more appropriate, although slightly longer to type, it seems more literal and purposeful. Things like "isour" come across as an unnecessarily awkward compromise. These were available as I typed this message (though not anymore).

ADDENDUM:
Geez, in the time it took me to finally post my message, everyone rode all over my Mac product joke. I'm late to the party. :p :D That'll teach me to cruise the .name registry real slow while trying to make a point.

Well Nexus you got a point with iSour that was already stated above. But you know if you tell people that your new website is for example avidwebsitedesign. Is Our.biz (without the space of course) people will not think Isour (cause Isour does not make sense at all). Anyone have any other suggestions except that my domain sounds like an ipod rip off which was not the intended purpose?

Andy,
If I were you, I would try to avoid the confusion by altering the logo.
Based on your site's look&feel (which I like):

I would change the "our" to orange (which is the accent color on the site) and make it an upper case to visually separate the two words:

isOUR.biz

Thanks Midano for that suggestion, I have put it in the website and it looks much better. Hopefully that will clear up the difference between iSour and IsOur.
Thanks again and nice suggestion ;)

DN$ are always welcome. Remember me when you accumulate some.

More suggestions.

I would add more orange accents to enforce your corporate identity:
- make a link mouseover color orange as well. Right now when you roll the mouse over the links, they don't really invite you to click.
- Change one of the arrows on the logo to orange. This will define the whole color scheme.

Also, come up with a catchy tagline. Something like:

Your Biz isOUR.biz!

If anyone is still interested in a re-direct account I changed the website so ad-free accounts are available for free for a limited time (1 month) No Catch! and I will not add ads to accounts after the 1 month promotional period.

Anyway, I think the name is very weak but not "illogical". It *could* work fine, but it is awkward. Out of the applicants to the new .NET registry contract, one of the groups call themselves "Santan". I think this is also an unfortunate name, and it would be much better if they'd named themselves something much less suggestive of something else. But, like them, you can make ANYTHING work if you want it to bad enough. You'll just have to endure the inevitable comments... and as my iSour joke showed (I sware, when I wrote that no one had replied with that yet!) everyone will think they're the first to say it. If Santan gets the .NET contract (not likely), they'll endure a torrent of "Hellish" humor about the .NET and where its going, etc, etc.

Hi everyone! I am looking for your suggestions to my solution to the IsOur = i sour misunderstanding that I had with my redirect service. I have decided to buy http://YouAre.at to make a subdirectory redirection service (http://youare.at/yourname) What do you think of this domain name? Is it better? Does it make more sense? I really appreciate any comments that you may have.

I like isour.biz - this is the domain I will be telling people because it SOUNDS cool. Otherwise I will just write poordoggie.com.

youare.at is ok, but not as effective as isour (as long at it is read right!). Also subdomains are better, I don't like subdirectory domain names, they look and sound cheap. Like tripod. My tripod account is http://members.lycos.co.uk/poordoggie - I hate that. If you made it a subdomain thing then it would make the user feel more profesional.

Just a suggestion. Love the isour.biz site though - tis v. cool!!!
