Domain prices have gone down?

How much do you think domain prices have gone down the last couple years? Is it because of the economy or other factors? Do you see domain prices rising soon?

With the recession and falling stock markets some "weak holders" of domains may have sold to get their hands on some money. Maybe they lost a job. Greater supply out paces demand and lowers prices.

I think .com dot com domains are very under valued. A decent domain that makes sense for a web site should be worth thousands of dollars. You see old cars and antiques that take up space selling for thousands of dollars as well as paintings/art. Each domain is unique, one of a kind and can make money. Best to dump the junk that will never have great value. But .com's that can be developed into a web site would likely gain value at some point.

I assume you are talking about existing domain name prices?

All indications are that sales are UP according to Q2 results so I wouldn't say that prices are going down.

The economy has hurt a bit but in a way, I think that has helped domain names because it has forced people to rethink what they are doing and many went to the web to make the change.

As for premium domains, I don't think their prices have gone down at all. As Yofie correctly states, recession has helped people to rethink their plans and I'd add most domain owners have concentrated their efforts on their best domains and cut down their portfolios by removing the lower quality names.

The overall economic condition has improved a lot, what it was 2 years back. But the price of domain has decreased due to fierce competition. Yes I do agree, DOT COM domains have future potential. Thanks
