There's a domain that I want and it HAS expired.

Registered through: GoDaddy.com, Inc. (http://www.godaddy.com)
Domain Name: [filtered]
Created on: 28-Jun-05
Expires on: 28-Jun-06
Last Updated on: 28-Jun-05

However godaddy has parked it apparently and gives this message:
Notice: This domain name expired on 06/28/06 and is pending renewal or deletion

How do I grab this domain, it's expired, shouldn't other be allowed to get it or how can I, I suppose.

Oh wow wrong forum, please move.

Well, the domain registrars are allowed to hold the domain even after it expires and either use it themselves, sell it, or notify the owner and see if they want to renew it.

Normally it takes up to a month I believe for a domain to actually drop without anyone buying or renewing it. Actually I am probably wrong, but most domains aren't available the day that they expire.

Oh thank you, that's disappointing =\. Wonder when mine will be purged. :D

Just keep checking. I regged a domain in a similar case after 40 days or so.

If it's a decent name, you may have to use a drop catcher such as SnapNames or you might lose it.

can be upto 70 days before it gets released

I think the actual day varies with registrars and extensions. If you really want it and willing to pay, you may try to backorder it at GoDaddy. Would it be faster?

Have you looked for the domain at TDNAM.com? most if not all of the expired domains at GoDaddy and Wild West Domains will go through an auction at TDNAM.com before they are dropped.

I had read something like this but I don't know where :

" If the domain pereod is over, the domain would be a property of the compny from whom you purchased that, and If the site gets more visits from this domain, the domain will not removed form the compny list and if the site get smaller visits, the site will be removed within 10 to 90 days... "

so, don't keep visiting your site...

I didn't know that, thanks for telling me. The site doesn't get a substantial amount of hits anyway, I'd highly doubt it.

What status does the registry say it's currently in? You may be able to calculate about when it will be available.

Most domains that were registered through GoDaddy get put on TDNAM, so you should get it there. However, if the domain enters REDEMPTIONPERIOD then GoDaddy no longer has control and you should use a drop catcher such as snapnames or enom to acquire the domain.
