I bought a 8 year old domain earlier today in go-daddy that had expired and I was looking for some advice on what you think it was worth and also the best way to sell it.

I have gotten some crazy valuations online using software but I am looking for a realistic price please
I understand that the hyphen doesn't help but the fact it I think it is a sought after domain and was looking for some advice on the matter, many thanks

Fantastic keywords, lots of traffic there ...

I'd approach some of the quasi/adult dating services AFF etc, or there's a big Internet Dating industry conference held each year in FL I believe where you could advertise the opportunity to people.

Best case IMHO would be a low $X,XXX sale to a motivated business, probably only mid to low $XXX to a reseller.

Think I was just lucky this morning. I would like to sell it direct to the end user if at all possible.
Would the likes of sedo be more than likely a reseller.
I presume you meant adult friend finder.
I live in Ireland so may not be possible to promote at the conferance this year unless I can think of something.
The other option I was thinking was setting up a dating site , building the brand and reselling the lot as an entire entity.
Any other advice will be closely read and appreciated

You'll always get your best return from the end user sales but it's also more work and longer lead time so you just gotta weigh that against your cash flow needs.

No SEDO and the other big markets attract end users but yes obviously Domainers pay more attention to the markets. End users are only searching out a name based on a need they have, new project, product planning etc. In my experience to chase up an end user sale you typically have to make them aware of an opportunity they might not of considered and sell how it's going to benefit their business, so waiting around for them to come up with a need typically means a lot of waiting around

You certainly don't have to goto a conference like iDate or AVN for that matter to be pitching it, the organizers typically have all kinds of attendee marketing opportunities for vendors.

Setting up a new Dating site is *really* tough these days IMHO. A strategy I might employ would be to build out a site using your top ten prospects affiliate programs, each with their own landing pages + 10 pages, build the traffic and *then* you have a product you can go to the top ten prospects showing them your fantastic stats and how they want to own the site and not one of their competition

Thanks fr some great advice . I will take your advice and have an affiliate website and write about 10 optimised articles.
Get some decent backlinks maybe a few you tube videos to drive some traffic for free offers.
I also saw a warrior special offer whereby I could set up a dating site and earn 65% commission on sales. You can also set up the site so that you can use other profiles within the network and the niche the website is in
Could you see this domain selling with a website for €10k if done properly ! ?

As someone who knows there stuff about domain s how much in your experience could you see that domain selling for without a site.

There are *much* more knowledgeable ppl here then me, n I hope they chime in, but if the domain was mine n I built out the teaser site to pitch to the program owners I'd price it at $4800 n be very happy with a $3500 sale ... But then I'm a 'simple man'

Very nice domain for highly competitive keywords. A few years ago you could have ranked with this domain very easily but exact keyword domains have lost a lot of value in google. So with all the competition it is going to be very difficult to rank for the keyword(s) in the domain name or at all, in my opinion. But if you put a lot of work and dedication into it, have really good quality content (not the cheap obvious affiliate crap that google hates), are patient enough, in the long run this could become a fantastic website with awesome affiliate-earing potential.

Could you see this domain selling with a website for €10k if done properly ! ?

What does "done properly" mean? If you spend a lot of money so that revenue is persistent at a clip that justifies €10k then I'm sure you can sell it for €10k.

Then you can talk to Latona and he'll do a VIP tour and try and sell it for €100k through email or something.

Not sure what it's worth but probably less than what it seems like it should be worth. It just feels like a traffic ad link type site to me... not something an end user what want.

Definitely worth more developed but I think you could get mid $xxx to a reseller and low $x,xxx to an end user just for the domain. If it's developed then it all depends on traffic and revenue as to its value really. Nice name though, even with the - which I am not usually a fan of.

What I was thinking was using a white label dating network , something like whitelabeldatingprovider and adding in some profiles and market it on youtube and facebook.
If I got a grand for it I would be happy as the domain cost me $20.
What tools do you guys use to find domain that are about to expire , Think I just got lucky with this one

It did not "expire" as the OP claims.

It's not 8 years old, but 13 years old.

The domain was last updated on January 3 2013.

And it will only expire in 2018, should it not be renewed.

I think we got a time-traveler here guys. lol
