Does Google treat 'websites' developed using wordpress as 'blogs'?

I am planning to develop website using wordpress theme. I am just wondering if google will treat this website as a BLOG?

I think (if I am right) it still doesnt matter because blogs and websites are treated equally in terms of rankings but I am just curious as if a USER subscribing to 'Google Alerts' service choose to receive alerts for news/web would not receive updates from my website as it would be categorised as blog. (unless user also subscribe alerts from blogs) What do you have to say...

If you have rss feed in your site, and google catched the feed, it's possible that google will treat it as a blog.

If you are just using wp as a straight forward cms and none of the blog features (just pages, not posts) then you won't be publishing an rss feed anyway.

The great thing about using wp for this is if you want a "news" type section which you can update with "posts" ain the back end.

I dont think having RSS feed on a page is a criteria to decide if its blog or website. Almost all websites nowadays have some kind of RSS feed.

Any other views?

how does google treat sites that it labels as a "blog" differently than any other website? for that matter, does google even label a site as a blog?

yes. ie, you have specific Google blog search, so they kinda try to identify blogs. I think the best easier way to achieve that is the spider looks for any WP header and that's it, you have a blog.

I've created sites using WP just as CMS (meaning it's not a blog) and yes, Google recognizes it as a blog

oh, I have a website using wordpress. That's in my signature: www.worldfuns.com
I want to develop this domain into a website, but I am not good at web designing, so I used the wordpress.
It seems that I had better use a real web designing procedure. What a burden to me!
