I have an invite from Great Domains to list one of my domains but I'm thinking I might like to sell it now... one can never have too many lawn ornaments at Christmas! :p

Is the value they place on it a good price at which to sell it and/or what percentage should I take off for the new buyer... since he/she may not be the end user??

Obviously, I'm trying to establish a price for this thing before I go post over in the "FOR SALE" forum. And, I realize for some domain value is subjective but I'd think if GD wants it, it must have some kinda value.

Many thanks in advance for your feedback!

EDIT:

I forgot to add...

List - $7,500
Reserve - $1,500

So, if I wanted to list the name for sale "today" on NP, Sedo, or someplace else what would be a good price range. I realize the $7,500 is for an end user! :)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

If they are setting the price at $5K> with a 3K minimun, (or better) I would probably do it.

GD like .cc &.tv because they are trying to promote sales/registrations, they offered to list my Broadband.cc $5000/$20000, I am still considering as there are no real .cc sales at that level and I think the prices are very inflated.

those prices are so inflated for the cc and tv. None actualyl sell at that price

That's what I was hoping for... if they want to pimp them then by all means!! :hehe:

But they are still friggin' picky cuz they didn't like...

freight.cc G - 11,000,000.0 T- 8,370.0 O - 44,200.0
glassware.cc G - 3,730,000.0 T- 19,890.0 O - 20,853.0
compatible.cc G - 41,100,000.0 T - 1,380.0 O - 29,367.0

Any thoughts as to why??

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

They didn't like my footwear domain either which surprised me (58,000,000+ Google, 177,000 OVT) vs incorporate (15 million Google, 78,000 OVT) and golfclub (6 million Google, 216,000 OVT). I got a form letter declining to offer it and explaining that they are looking for 1 worders and 3 letter combos (didn't mention .cc!)...

People have mentioned the GD valuations seem inflated... IMO, the top end might be BUT the reserve is perhaps just about where it should be.

The question is: do you really need GD to sell the domain at the reserve price? Is it worth giving up 6 months of possible parking revenue to list at GD, only to have the domain possibly not sell in the end?

You need to balance all the factors in the equation.. $500 minimum commission? With some reserves set as low as $1500, you may end up with "only" $1000... Could you do as well elsewhere or on your own?

GD is smart.. they're choosy about picking HV keyword domains to represent, thereby assuring themselves of high visibility in terms of traffic, etc.

I think that the last two is too long after looking at the GD .cc names. The first one....well you were unlucky

I have resubmitted names that GD didn't accept the first time, only to have them accept the second time. Must have more than one person looking at them for sure. Also, looking at all of my names (25), it doesn't seem like they use Overture very much, and many of my domains are plural, such as Circulates.net,Separates.net,and Blushes.net., plus many more.

I think it has to to more with being very generic than anything. IMHO

does a greatdomains invite indicate value?...the answer is sadly no, and value of your domain is probably pretty close to what you paid which was some "namebucks".

The purpose of GD taking lots of .cc has nothing at all to do with selling domains, in fact I don't think they have ever sold a .cc, and I doubt they ever will. It is about encouraging speculators to pull out the credit card and register some more .cc's.

Should state "IMHO"!!

I don't see the negative with GD wanting to pimp/hype/sell/whatever the .cc domain. I look at it as free marketing for a relatively "unknown" commodity of which I own a tiny piece. :bingo:

Or am I missing something?? D-:

Even I have to admit there's some hype there.. but you have to hype something to sell it sometimes... for domains like billshotdogs, .cc is not a good choice... HV keywords are required to make them work at all unless you're willing and able to promote them alot yourself.

Sabre Hosting is right. This is a good discussion, but it's not an appraisal, should be moved!!

it is not opinion, it is fact, greatdomains have never actually sold a .cc domain and those listings have nothing to do with selling domains. GD know how to get speculators registering domains, they did the same thing with the sham sale of beauty.cc years ago, and the smoke and mirrors continues to this day.
