I don't want to sound whining, I'm saying this more to warn: be careful with town names and .com -- barcelona.com was claimed by Barcelona City Council and they won the court case. Dangerous precedent.
under US law, a party cannot held a valid trademark in the name of a geographical place.spain used their law.so registration of a city domain name is lawful and entitle to protection under 15 U.S.C. §1114(2)(D)(v
New Zealand government claimed newzealand.com as far as I know. I guess it depends on local laws. Under .info all country names are forbidden to be registered (so for example germany.info is forbidden) and .eu forbids registrations of the member states' names (so no spain.eu possible)
I wonder what happens when you register germany.cc or germany.ge or so ; do local laws of the country ruling the extention apply, or international laws?
