I saw in that "show us your poker domains" thread, that someone posted a huge list of domains.

web-poker-sites.com
webgamblingsites.com
onlinepokersites.us
killapoker.com
betdrawpoker.com
webpoker.name
royalflush.name
pokerpro.ws
pokerpro.in
pokerpro.name
5cardstud.ws
5carddraw.in
icall.ws
iraise.in
iraise.info
acesfull.in
acesfull.us
streightflush.com
streightflush.info
streightflush.us
diamondflush.us
diamondflush.info
spadeflush.info
spadeflush.in
clubflush.in
clubflush.info
5cardstud.info
5carddraw.us
casinoplay.biz

If domains like this are profitable, I don't understand the domaining industry as well as I thought I do... maybe I just don't understand how to sell domains.

I've never had success selling domains like that, or even better.

Right now, I've got a few domains I'd love to get rid of, things like GoodSEO.net (developed with a ~80 uniques / day), TheMicrosoftBlog.com, L.inux.info, and my list of *FAQ domains (primely, UbuntuFAQ.info which ranks in Google for Ubuntu FAQ), but I know I'd never sell them for any value that makes them worthwhile to me.

Am I doing soemthing wrong? :P

Yep, done that a few times :)

Also words that are not spelled right, after looking through thousands of domain that are basically rubbish .... See one that looks good, but only after registering ( and sobbering up :) ) the next day I realize that it was spelt wrong :)

Oh well you learn something new everyday ... The problem is I forget two things :)

All the best.

which domain made your $75K with only 10-15 hits/day?

Best advice you'll get.

Most of the names you see up for grabs are laughable. Spend some time and cash on getting quality names, learning SEO and prove their worth to potential buyers by breeding them into SERPS and PR, or at least targetted traffic, and you stand a much better chance IMHO.

And by "quality names" i mean simple, easily memorable, brandable names. Think Amazon, Napster, iTunes, Ebay and not Cheapbooks, Downloadsongs, Buymp3s, Auctionitems, if you see what i mean (thats not to say those wont fetch okay money - but most are gone and are probably waaay overpriced by the prospectors who own them). I'll happily spend a $k or 2 on the right name.

You may even find they turn out more lucrative with SERPS and development. I have one domain i did this with (bought initially purely with a view to selling it on) - the domain name has absolutely zero to do with the very competitive market it's in (doesnt even contain a keyword - hell its not even a word!), but its short and memorable and it ended up earning me over $75k in its first year so i gave up my job and kept it - lol. And it only gets about 10-15 hits a day from search engines! It's all about the name. You never know :D

Cheers

Definately interested in that, and how you bought it / what promotion ... etc.

All the best.

Many of us would not be here unless we were making at least a few dollars. However, I would say most of us tend to be into domains more for the hobby than the money though.

To be honest, I'm a total noob too but I've made a few hundred and I've only been doing this for a few months! Just work hard and you will get what you want for your domains! Patience is the key! Good luck!

Hi fonzie,

Definately have to agree with you there, sorry to go on a bit of a rant but this seemed the ideal time :)

To all the neewbies out there, please do not be put off by what you read on forums :)

What I mean is that I work at this full time ( and have my own registered company dedicated to domain trading ). Now I don't tend to 'blow my own trumpet' about my trading activities .... But I read some posts from people that make it sound like they are making a great amount of money, or are total experts, then I look at their domains and business practice and think ' what the hell ??? '.

Now I might be wrong ( usually am :) ) but it does strike me you get a lot of people that just want to come onto a forum and lead a 'virtual' life that has nothing to do with the real world .... Or for that matter who they really are.

There is a lot of great information here, and some of the best traders you will meet ... Just make sure you take everything with a bit of salt unless they are know to you ( or have a good rep, generally the moderators ).

Information flows freely in a forum, your task is to pick out the stuff that matters :)

Wishing you all the best.

Richard

A quick question I know it is a little of subject
what does an End user mean?
Oh yea And i would definetly like kknow the website that made 75k.lol

End user means that you sell directly to someone that is going to use the domain rather than a trader that is just looking to sell on. For example if you take one of my domains ... TotalSki.com. It would mean I would sell directly to a company that was involved in Skiing rather than another trader that was looking to pass it on.

Hope that helps.

All the best.

Richard

thanks for the reply,
But to these end user use forum like this one. Where do can you find end users usually

Yikes .... For just one sentance that is a big question :)

No, they do not see these forums in general.

Basically what you are looking for is a company that would benifit from your domain name, so try searching out comapnies involved in what ever you domain means ( make sur no trademark / copyright problems ).

Most of it is really down to common sense, however it does involve some work which is why a lot of 'traders' don't go down this route.

Put yourself in the shoes of an average internet user, if they were to come across your domain then which company would they really be looking for ?

These are the people to contact.

To go into this fully would take a few pages, I am sure you will get some other responses here that will go into more detail ... but it is nearly 4 in the morning here so don't really have the time :)

All the best.

Everyone has been a neewbie at some point ... It is just unfortunate that a lot of them forget it :)

And a lot of the ones that have ben around for a while ( including me ) still make mistakes :)

All the best.

Richard

If we take into context how long the domain industry has existed as say compared to Real Estate, we are all Newbies and will be so for some time to come.

So what is the site making $75,000? you skipped that question that several people asked. Thank you
