I think I have this in the best section after looking through the different ones but if mods think otherwise please move.
Basically I am looking at creating a host of niche industry directories where visitors can search to find a local business in their area eg. mechanic. I was simply going to have the following data for each listing:
Title
Description
Address (including postcode)
Phone Number
Email (if they have one)
Website (if they have one)
I was then going to group them by state and then further into each specific area. I can do this as it's simply a matter of creating pages and subpages for each area. However the next part is where I am having the difficulty in working out how it can be done.
I am wanting visitors to be able to search by postcode or suburb/town to find a listing in their area. Therefore I was hoping to have a search box on the index page where they can type in either suburb/town or postcode and would then display all the matching businesses.
Unfortunately I am a very basic developer and am only using XSitePro at the moment to develop my websites (see signature links for examples). As far as I can see it does not offer this feature. Does anyone know a template/script or something I can use to enable me to integrate this search feature? The difficulty is that I don't have knowledge of coding or anything like that so it would also need to be simple enought that I can edit the site myself and input data.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and both rep & NP$ will be donated.
BTW - I am prepared to spend money if what I need costs.
