Directory listings

If I were to create a local restaurants directory, and I put together the listings from various sources such as yp, other sites, driving around, etc. Would there be any copyright issues. How can addresses be copyrighted? I would appreciate your comments and advice.

It's well established that you can't copyright the contents of a telephone directory. As long as you stick to only taking basic factual information ( ie name, address, telephone number, etc.) from other sources you'll be fine. Any editorial, (ie a description, comment, etc.) will have to be done by you.
