It seems that quite a few people on digg are unhappy about the recent decision to remove all links to the HD-DVD processing key.

Every single story on the front page right now contains that key :(

Personally, I think they were justified in removing the key.

www.digg.com

Just thought I would share my WPA key so you guys can use my WiFi

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you all have my WPA key cause I like sharing my Wifi with you all. Its: --------------. Happy surfing :) More…

IP Version 6, with 128bit IPs

With 340,282,366,920,938,463,463,374,607,431,768,211,456 IPs to hand out, you're basically guaranteed your own public IP everywhere, even in a million-computer business. According to this, (http://www.iana.org/assignments/ipv6-address-space) ----------------------------- hasn't been taken yet! Who has the millions to buy the 0900 range?

Digg, this number is ALSO MAGIC! ------------ is the second half!

Same deal as the first story, but convert both of these to hex and reattach them. So, convert the first number (---------------) then convert this number (---------------) and put them side by side. Add the missing zero to the beginning of the whole finished string, Link to maddox because I think he is badass. More…

Does anyone here care about Digg anyways? :p

I don't honestly, there are many other great news sites out there. Many Digg articles are taken from places like these:

http://www.tgdaily.com
http://www.engadget.com/

digg is among the 100 most popular sites on the web. what happens on digg affects a significant portion of the web. everyone will be talking about this for a while.

The internet is not about censorship so its understandable that people are not happy about digg.

AMAZING!!! Every global extension and a few CCTLDs are taken, with and without the dashes (except for .mobi... anyone wanna grab em?)

Even more amazing is Digg's total reversal of their decision only 8 hours later. That takes some major balls. Checkout these two blog posts... http://blog.digg.com/?m=200705

Here's a portion of the last post from the founder of Digg, "after seeing hundreds of stories and reading thousands of comments, you’ve made it clear. You’d rather see Digg go down fighting than bow down to a bigger company. We hear you, and effective immediately we won’t delete stories or comments containing the code and will deal with whatever the consequences might be. If we lose, then what the hell, at least we died trying." Guess what the title of that blog post is? Hint: It's a series of numbers.

does this mean they accept being sued if those are the consequences? if so, there's some damn balls they got there.

Massive shiny brass ones. Digg's blog post already has 1450 Diggs and growing VERY rapidly... about 3-4 Diggs every 10 seconds when I checked it.

If you want to add your Digg, here's the link.

They really had no choice I suppose. Go against an unstoppable community in revolt or face a lawsuit from a 10,000lb corporate Gorilla. They did the right thing IMO.

the only thing i care about is to incentivize digg before but now can't but that's another story.
there's sub like del.icio.us and stumbleupon which gives similar if not much better clickthrus for me.

I posted the wrong link. The blog post from Kevin is on Digg's front page now and it's up to 7290 Diggs and growing INCREDIBLY rapidly! I counted 12 Diggs in 20 seconds! It won't be long until this is at the top of the 365 Days section in the All Topics category. That's truely impressive for an article that's less than 4 hours old.

This story is gonna be everywhere over the next few days.

By allowing it to be posted, it won't be. I think everyone on Digg has had enough of the code. ;/

The internet is suppose to be free of censorship. So its o wonder people are mad about the digg issue.
