You make it sound so trivial. I don't think it's that easy. Anybody can create a website, but in order to find a buyer you might have to provide evidence of sustainable traffic. That would depend on how you market your site and the quality of content. Arguably, if you have a good name already, it'll sell itself.

To hire a designer/webmaster to make a website for you and maintain for as long as you still have it, the hosting (which you COULD get for free, although it is not recommended), and don't forget the marketing and all that, I would say at LEAST 1000 USD, if not a LOT more.

Just depends on the Domain name and how much you want to get for it.
Hosting is cheap nowdays, You can always put up a turnkey site and see if you get traffic. Obviously the more you put into your site and advertising
the more it should be worth. imo of course.

it depends on how much traffic you can get. And how the design looks and feels. There are some myspace sites that get a lot of visitors but the design and grammer really sux.

I guess thats how it it sometimes.

that really depends on the requirement....more requirement and more cost.

simple static pages will sot less than $50

It just depend on what you would like to do, for example in my site transferred.info I hacve give only 1.99$ for the domain and some cents for the hosting but for other sites I have like evud.com I have sepent more than 60$ to advertise and so!
It's all about you! But remember that with low money you can stil create good sites!

If you go in forums on your website Vbulletin $2xx etc. and hire a webdesigner or buy a template(~50-100$), Marketing will be the costliest part of your budget..
But try getting Simple Standards compliant Templates from OSWD.org which you'll be able to edit your self and make sure you got a good subject/ idea yo work on.

I would of thought that unless it's a really good quality website any new owner interested in the domain would want to build their own site anyway ?

Yes, this is true, But again just depends on the name certain names need to be developed into websites in order to make a decent sale.
For example you most likely wont need to develope the word "dictionary" to make a good sale name speaks for it self.
where as if you have a 4 letter "AGYW" obviously that may need a good developed site in order to make a high sale. Hope this helps.

Investing on a quality site should pay off at the end.
