So far, I've picked nothing but losers.

And this will continue if you keep hand-regging names with the hopes of hitting the lottery.

Before making anymore purchases, take the necessary time to learn the abc's first.

Sorry, but you can add these two to the loser pile also.

Hopefully your pile has not gotten too large yet.

If there is still time, request a refund and start reading.

Give me a good example of one with the numbers that's not commercial. Yea, I have no clue what I'm looking for. Have been reading the forums and haven't seen much positive feedback on anyone's appraisal request. Any advice is appreciated. e. g., What to read up on, etc. Any advice would help on what to look for. Thanks.

Best place to determine the sort of names that MAY make you money don't look in the appraisal section.
Look instead in the for sale section - the names that have SOLD can give you an idea of what people are buying.

Also read, listen to the various forms of media (TV, RADIO, MAGAZINES) to get an idea of the latest trends/fads.

Don't make these mistakes most newbies make.
1/ Too many abbreviations or Leet Speak names
2/ If the name needs explaining , usually not good name.
3/ never buy Useless .ext's just because the keyword is available i.e. Tourism.ml will never sell
4/ CelebrityNames and TM's are Poison Don't touch
5/ Don't buy based on Appraisal site valuations. Nearly 100% of all newbies make that mistake.
6/ Names that can be developed will always sell for higher prices than novelty / gimmick names
7/ Remember the all important rule. Domains are like lottery tickets. Most that are purchased are not winners.

I will do that! I will read, where would be the most reliable sites or tools to look at alexa ratings and such? What would be the single most important numbers to look at? Just trying for now to get a quick base idea of what to look for. And, thanks barefoottech for all the advice. After the boston thing, I made a whoppin' $0.13 on bostonterrorized com from the media as you said from bodis. Another question, how do you get into the chinese market? I would guess the type-ins for keywords would be important.... Ok, ok... I will read. Thanks again!
