Hate to be a party pooper, but I am pretty confident Valutakurser is not the German word or expression for exchange rates. In German exchange rates translates to:

• Wechselkurse
• Umrechnungkurse
• Devisenkurse
• Währungskurse

Think you might have mistakenly mixed it up with Danish or Swedish.

The big thing to consider with german domains is that you want to try to get the hyphen version of the domain as well. Germans are not shy about using hyphens and even some of the bigger name websites will use them. Not sure why exactly the market is so different but it might just have something to do with them being easier to read with a hyphen considering how long the words are lol

I've seen those numbers. but I fear they are "old data" if you do by DATE it's a different "Story" and it kinda worries me. or should it? maybe those sales were for a time when such things could be possible. things are different now isn't it? or not?

First you said "english terms combined with .de do rarely well"

Then when presented with evidence to prove otherwise, you change your initial statement to English terms not used in common day to day German language don't to well.

I dont want to get inbetween this but I just wanted to give you my 2cents (I m from germany and do a lot of business there too). The issue with english words in the german language is predicting the market and which english words will turn into mainstream words. I was just over there again and it amazed me how many english words are being integrated into german advertising and the language? Why? I am not 100% but its been like that for a long long time (we used to call it mc donalds german because they were one of the first companies to advertise using a mix of english/german to be funny). It could be that its simply easier to market or that it rolls of your tongue easier.

My recommendation would be that you simply do a google search for the word (google.de) before purchasing a domain in a language that you may not understand. Youre not looking for long articles but lets be honest and lets just say that a word with 1 mil search results has a higher chance of actually being used where a word with 20k results (mostly english websites) has a lower chance lol.

I am in no way an expert and I have a few domains myself that are .de that include a english word like smartphoneVR.de. Again just trying to offer frienly advice

Haha glad to see that I am not the only one pushing the german vr market :P It will definitely be a lot of holding on (at least probably) but I just recently went back to germany and they have VR demos in every tech store now.

I own quite a few like smartphoneVR.de vr-smartphone-brille.de (vr glasses) VIRTUELLE-REALITÄT.ORG (virtual reality) and one of my favorites virtuelle.info (virtual.info)
