Dating Scripts?

What are the top dating scripts on the market today? I want to start up a free dating site and need some help getting started.

I was hoping someone here had already ventured into this and could maybe guide me along.

I have the domain and now need to get it developed.

Ja$on - I don't like to be a Debbie downer, but just wanted to mention this. If you go to any of the freelance websites, you will see a HUGE number of listings for dating websites to be built. As you know there are some big ones out there but most small ones do not gain very much market share at all. If you have a super unique idea that differentiates the dating site you intend to build from the thousands of others out there - go for it. If you intend it to be a somewhat 'generic' dating site you may find its not worth the effort. Either way, all the best with your venture.

It's all good, I don't plan on getting rich from the site, just looking for enough money to cover the domain investment ($69) and whatever scripts it takes to get it off the ground. Once it is built I will pump traffic to it and hope for the best.

Some popular dating scripts that I know: osDate, Chameleon (quite expensive but has nice features) and of course, Dolphin.

lot of api's and white label programs now too that you can earn with right away and still keep your own niche identity and band name design, and most important; domain name..they never leave your site to join; they never see that the members are not yours ;and there are already members first day you open up....!.....then if you site takes off you can invest in a custom or fancy script or shop your traffic around for the best deal

IMHO all of the dating scripts out there kind of suck, that's why you see so many people looking for custom scripts.

Yeah, I tried creating a social network/dating site and it was too much work and money. I use the white label site "world dating partners" and have lots of domains with them and make a few hundred a month. I basically come out even with all my domain spending.
If you are building a free site - try social networking software like socialengine.net or BuddyPress (for Wordpress) - but you'll have to pay server costs.

yeah, you just change your DNS servers and choose a template from them (or create your own) and you can start marketing your dating site in less than 24 hours.

If you have a strong domain name, you can get lots of traffic and membership subscriptions.

When I used to have a dating site I used the software from www.datetopia.com
The script had a lot of feature and the support was good.
Said had because for me it wasn't a success and I've abandoned the project.

What was the dating domain that you used?
I tried to create a custom site as well, but its difficult and time-consuming, and you can't gain marketing traction if you have no users or singles on the site at the beginning. It takes a lot of time and money to get started, with software and marketing costs.

I had to switch to the WDP white-label because time-wise it was just easier and I don't have the hassle of customer support and backend. I can just focus on marketing. I get some money. Maybe I can get more on a custom-built site but it would also cost more of my own time for customer service support, so that's the trade-off.
