Hi Guys

I registered this EMD domain D/a/t/i/n/g[dot]D/a/t/i/n/g when the .Dating nTLD is launched. I am quite happy with registering with this domain because dating is a multi billion dollar industry and its a valuable domain for a potential buyer, second thing is it's renewal price. Although most of premium nTLDs are priced at high price levels this premium domain name can be renewed just for $73/yr which is OK for me for such a domain. Finally I already got 2 offers via Sedo in 2016 for the domain and maximum offer was $1000. I know that the offerers should be resellers. But I am looking for potential buyer who wants to buy at a much more high price. I am willing to keep the domain for few years until I find such a buyer.

So I just need your true opinion about the domain name's value with a clear reasoning.
Please use parentheses around the dot instead of just typing dot when you typing the domain name. eg: Dating(dot)Dating

Regards.

Well done! Surprised they didn't reserve that. Any half-decent name is reserved. It's a great name, difficult to say a value but several thousands I would guess.

WOW the group that funded the .dating tld let go of their whole franchise with your registration

The only natural term for a lousy .tld

If the group that funded the .dating tld gives up, then what happens?

That would be my only issue to even spend serious time looking at it, since if ICAAN has no safety net to protect such tld's from abandonment that could become a real issue down the road.

It takes a little coin to actually get a new TLD going, so why they let the anchor go so cheap is a red flag

Let's assume that they will not give up the TLD. :-P

Business is business

It cost them X to establish the tld
It will cost them Y to keep it going

I haven't heard of any new tld's folding as to 'new registrations' and the old ones would have to have some type of protection from ICAAN, but I never researched it, so if ICAAN can fold a tld, that is a potential disaster.

As long as ICAAN will honor the name, no problem, but then it becomes what will ICAAN charge you to keep it active?

You register a name, guess what after a year it expires, same with a TLD, it has a startup cost and then a renewal cost as far as I know, it's not a one time fee, or at least I THINK it should not be a one time fee to create a tld, ICAAN is all about the money, so someone has to be accountable to ICAAN for the tld to survive IMO.

Maybe some experts on setting up a tld and running costs can give an opinion, so that's my only issue with the name, to own datingdotdating is a score, great registration.

Actually, this is worth a lot more IMO, for one reason dating is dating and this is a brandable name

It might actually be able to overcome the O.co disaster

I can see TV ads and Radio ads branding it, so it's a 7 figure asset IMO, one of the best new tld's I've seen.

Overall, .dating is worthless IMO, but this, it is the TLD, what a score.

I'd be talking to Tinder/eHarmony/Match now about partnering with me if I had it

heck facebook and twitter should want to partner with you on it

An app would take off if you get the right partner

DatingDOTdating where DATING is REALLY DATING a play on the double word

First new tld I've seen that I would say has 7 figure potential EASY

Do you think Tinder would partner up / buy the domain really?
Well.. that's possible.. Let's hope for OP's sake you are right... (n)(n)

I think any dating related company that is spending a fortune on branding still today will be asking around the board room table HOW DID WE not GET THIS

Dating is now a net business and you got a few big companies now and this can become a big company fast

A little money behind this and a solid app tied to social media and bingo, it can takeover the whole online dating industry it has that type of upside, this is a major asset, easy 7 figures, the OP is a millionaire and doesn't know it, YET. hehe

How many people have heard of Tinder, how many people have heard of Dating DOT Dating.

I actually follow GTLD's, I had no clue that .dating had even been released.

.Singles was one of the first GTLD's ever released, I don't even see them.

There is a lot of marketing work that needs to be done, and end users are not jumping on such names just yet, but the masses, for the dollars you are thinking.

Every major dating site is spending tons of cash on major media branding, match, eharmony etc.

This site with some dough behind it, will be a competitor for all the dating sites, they actually need to do a protective buy or partnership since this name has that kind of branding potential.

What's an eharmony? mega millions spent branding it

As soon a group puts some marketing on this name with a good app and a tie in to social media be it instagram or twitter or facebook or all three, then it will be mega millions for a dating company to acquire it.

If I owned any of the dating sites, this name would have been in my pocket so no one could use it to take a piece of my pie.

This is a natural name to brand for dating, it's really that simple, a marketing guru's dream.

The only domain for dating I would put above this is dating.com, and it is just as good as that to brand. Huge money went into making eHarmony and Match what they are and lots of single people are not that happy with them, so there's plenty of room in online dating for a new company.

Once some dough is put into the app and marketing it will be written about extensively and get a ton of free marketing.

Like I said best new tld registration I've seen and I don't like new tld's but I sure love this one.

Text the url to somone
Useless it is not clickable
So most of the new .tld's are useless if you can't even click them in a text

Part of a viral growth campaign is getting people TO TEXT the url to friends and such

More reason .com is KING

Best one I've seen in a while...hang on to it until real offer(s) come in. Still don't know why .dating didn't reserve...not logical. I would have never bothered checking it if I were investing in that extension assuming it was blocked...good luck

Maybe they didn't reserve it because they wanted someone to build something good on it, and bring awareness to their extension.

What is the point of reserving everything? These names need to be out there, so content can be added, and they can be used.

Makes sense...better than letting an extension stagnate

What is the point of reserving everything?

Greed on the part of the sponsor

If you reserve everything, there will never be traction on these extensions.

That was the draw of .com, get one for $35 back in the day, and away you go, no blocks, no bs, no premiums.

It is just to complicated.

Wow dude...nice score indeed..

I think you could really fetch a decent price for this.I'm surprised the registry didn't use this domain for their main site. @wwwweb is probably right, Im sure it was not an oversight on their part.... I think they hoped one of the massive dating sites like Tinder or something grabbed this domain and used it cos that would help them considerably to create brand awareness for thier tld. They probably kicking themselves now that they realized its sitting in the hands of a domainer and not one of the larger dating end users like they hoped... I do actually think if this domain was to get in front of the right eyes from the larger dating sites then it could very well get scooped up quickly for a good price. I don't see why the wouldn't pay low to mid $xx xxx

100% WRONG

The ONLY REGISTRAR was Network Solutions owned by SAIC or CIA's backwards.

To register anything it was $50 year TWO YEAR MINIMUM

So my first day in the 'game' 1000 registrations at 100 bucks each

I know I stroked a check that day for 100K

My friends all said WHAT IS THE INTERNET

It was 100 bucks to get anything and you had one registrar operated by the retired guys from the CIA that owned it and when it went public they all became BILLIONAIRES
