been looking at custom search for a site
i want to do a mini search engine for a niche

i have looked at google and they offer a service for free to do your own with them, but i dont want their sponsored ads on the results and you have to pay at least $100 a year not to have.

is there a cheap or free script or can someone do so you can pull all the results via api from google and yahoo etc?

or just google?

any ideas, thoughts, scripts, offers welcome

Just to clarify; do you want the search function/API to search the Internet, or the content of your site?

I doubt Google will provide you a search API without having their logo/links on the results page.

Hi,
thanks for posting

it was as stand alone engine, not for a search function on a site

i know you can do google custome search engines and have none of their sponsored listings, but pay for that, starts at $100 a year i think

didnt know if you can bypass going through them and have a api so can search google and yahoo etc

have it pulling results form mixed search engines but not displaying sponsored listings??

any ideas appreciated
cheers
