i been doing a little searching of domain names on ebay. i came across one Transformers2.com, with currently 15 bids going for $10,000+. i dont understand how this works but cant there still a legal issue with this domain name? it says its not "affiliated with Paramount, Dreamworks, DiBonaventura Pictures, or HASBRO." i thought you can be taken to court if you profit from something like that? or am i totally wrong, (im new to domain names)

so if i decide to make a domain name after a movie ex. (passion of the christ2 LOL) and say it has no affiliation with anybody its still legal if the movie actaully came out and i sold it?

or am i just being a complete idiot? :imho: haha let me know

The simple answer is "no". You would be frofitting off the goodwill of a TM, regardless if it is 1, 2 or 45. The premise of the name is the original TM. But if someone wants the domain for their TM, they nly care who has it now, not who had it before. This does not release the original owner from liability, companies just don't care about that.
