Curiosity is killing me...

For the last month, a major international Internet-related communications corporation has been visiting my website more and more. Yesterday, I was surprised to see over 12 total hours of looking spread out to 30 of their IP numbers (they have hundreds) for one day.

The visits ranged from 70 minutes per user down to three minutes. It seemed like there were several people looking at the same time, but my stats are not good enough to say for sure.

Do you think this is about a domain they may want or something more sinister. I don't have any domains remotely close to their name, so I'm pretty sure it isn't a TM issue (but they probably own other companies).

I almost sent them an e-mail yesterday asking what the heck they were looking at...but didn't know if that was a good idea.

My curiosity is killing me. Does anyone have a guess or insight as to the reason for their visits? Think I should e-mail them? Any other suggestions before this drives me bonkers?

Thanks

Let them look all they want. Do not scare them off with an email out of the blue. This would look funny. If they are interested, they will contact you. :)

What is the name? developed?

Could just be some staff members who like your site, spreading the work amongst them.

I have a simplar issue... Microsoft spends an extrodinary amount of time on my site from their corporate address in Washington State.

In many cases, they visit one page at www.gopc.com and then it just sits there for quite a while. Other time, they are all over the site, looking at everything from my product offerings to my discount Dell Coupons.

The final, strange thing is how much time they spend browsing my forum.

MS has come out with and is actively Promoting their "Origami Project" which is nothing but Ultra Mobile PC based OS interfaces for various UMPC manufacturers. But then again, GoPC is the perfect name for the UMPC market.

I try (believe me, I try) to not get to imaginative about their interest and what it might mean if MS was interested in the Domain (Suite of domains, really) but its hard not to wonder.

What else could it be?

on www.gopc.net i see :
GoPC -go anyware , anytime -
seems like a TM to me.
"
GOPC is a virtual PC, with a screen image of your desktop, programs and data. It is a fraction of the cost of a normal PC, requires no maintenance or upgrades, and gives you the freedom to run it from anywhere.

It is new technology and fresh thinking. We've actually superceded the need for you to own a computer.

GOPC is used by business executives, students, families, children, clubs and groups. This is future technology which will revolutionise the way you think about owning a computer and accessing your desktop. "

" There is a GOPC data centre within each major continent although all marketing communications is currently only able to be handled in English. This will be expanded over the following months."

Are you sure that you don't have a name with someone else having a TM ?
good luck

Hmmm... I wonder where they got that domain? LOL!

They wanted GoPC.com but couldn't afford the asking price, although they readily admitted it was worth every penny.

The new owners of GoPC.net are Australia based and are trying to capitalize on the success of GoToMyPC and similar remote pc technologies. That is a completely different application to what we are doing with Mobile PC devices and technology. GoPC Computers have been around, as I said, for almost 10 years. We've sold part of the company recently and once completed, the product will carry a new name and the domain will be homeless.

That is why GoPC.com is for sale currently and I have little or no concern about matters of TM at this point.

Mine?

Yeah, there's apparently a bunch of "secret" buyers out there that the various Brokers I've worked with are expecting bids and offers from. Problem is, I never get them. Must be "in the mail" somewhere. ;)

I'm working on some overseas leads at this point... China and Taiwan are always looking for a sweet, easy, brandable, market specific domain.

GoPC in Japanese could be "5 PC" :D LOL!

Anyway... here's hopin'
