Description:
The CSS Exchange is built upon a unique concept. It is a portal where cascading stylesheets can be shared and rated.
The entire site is built from scratch with custom PHP code. It features a solid user system (with account activation), CSS uploading and managing facilites, user profiles, and CSS rating tools.
The rating system works by allowing a user to select a CSS from a dropdown list, view the CSS applied to a standard HTML document featuring many elements, and rate the CSS.
Source code for the selected CSS is easily accessible and can be printed with 1 click.
Configuration of the site is through one file, with less than 10 settings that need to be changed.
The layout of the site is coded in XHTML and CSS. There is not a single image used. This allows for fast loading times with low bandwidth. It also allows for easy changes to the site-wide appearance.
If advertising banners were used, they would stand out very well.
Cookies are used to prevent multiple votes for the same CSS and for user sessions.
