Would work with a .com. Unfortunately the prospects of selling a 2 word .io are relatively low. Then again given the crazyness surrounding crypto names you could maybe find a buyer. I just don't expect it to be a large return on your investment if you sell.

I saw in your other thread about this name that you received a $2,400 offer for it. Would love to hear some more details about that offer. Have you responded to them? If that offer is legitimate, you should jump on it immediately. It's not often that people are willing to pay four figures for two word brandable .io names.

But be very cautious... there are a lot of scam offers floating around out there, so if they ask you to spend money to get the domain appraised, you know the offer is not real.

Hey, thanks for reply,

I have set up a landing page before with domain for sale displayed and an email contact form. Got an offer, and was told will be paid through PayPal. I am new to domain flipping and replied that I cannot accept offers because I am still under 60 day period where I cannot transfer domain (but I learned that there is something like domain pushing which can solve that problem). Also, I thought maybe I sell the domain and transfer it and a buyer will cancel PayPal payment so I lose domain and money. Is escrow service on flippa a better solution?

By the way, how does one appraise a domain? Is it expensive and whose responsibility it is buyer's or a seller's?

Thanks again for your reply!

That SUCKS. I would have taken that offer in a heartbeat. I canโ€™t imagine this ever selling for that much so if he really did offer that, TAKE IT. I canโ€™t really see this selling unless NameSilo themselfs bought it and I donโ€™t see them doing that anytime soon. Plus, theyโ€™d probably just get the .com instead. Iโ€™m shocked you recieved a $2,400 offer honestly, out of my 50+ domains listed on Undeveloped, Sedo, Flippa, i have never off the bat recieved a 2.4k offer, especially for a .io

If it's an inbound enquiry, and the person isn't representing a legitimate business, then it may be best to use either an escrow service, or even a marketplace (like Afternic or Flippa) to do the transaction. Only issue with the marketplaces is that your fees will be higher.

Appraisal - It's incredibly subjective. Opinions on domain name value can vary greatly, and automated services like Estibot should not be counted on for accurate assessments either. You should never pay anyone for such a thing, and if a buyer is asking you to do it then their offer is a scam offer.

And to push a domain, the buyer must have an account with the same registrar where the domain name currently resides.

If this guys has $2400 as his first offer iโ€™m sure he wouldnโ€™t mind opening or already has an account with this registrar to recieve it by push transfer. Iโ€™m having a hard time believing $2400 was a real offer... I just donโ€™t see it in this name

I tend to agree... I'm pretty sceptical about how legit the offer is. But yes, I'm sure the buyer wouldn't mind opening an account with the registrar to get the name faster. OP, if the buyer is for real, then you may want to offer to guide them through the process of opening an account and finding their account info to provide to you.

A "silo" is a place where things are stored. namesilo don't have any hold over the word.

I know what a Silo is.
As mentioned above โ€œUnfortunately the prospects of selling a 2 word .io are relatively lowโ€ thats very true. Lets say someone actually thought โ€œSiloโ€ was the best choice for their crypto (exchange? Holding company?) why would whatever buyer go for CryptoSilo io instead of .com?

Thank you, everyone, for replies. As a beginner who only sold 2 domains in my lifetime, highest for 549$ on Flippa, I was shocked myself to receive such high offer. But after all of your replies, and carefully going through past sales, it could have been a "fake" offer or a scam. I am not sure how serious a buyer was, and I did email last night, but no response, so probably even if I accepted the offer it would not happen. From reading I see .io is not as valuable as .com and especially two-word domain. While now I know it is not a goldmine, but I still hope to get some good offer in future. Thanks everyone for your inputs!

ok couple notes:

first off.. there is nothing wrong with silo as storage place.. going along with crypto. it is in fact very good match for crypto.. however the keyword silo is not good. it sells rarely and is not well liked imo by endusers. therefore, to get 2.4k offer on cryptosilo is probably once in a lifetime opportunity which should be jumped on quickly.

secondly, an offer coming via email, inbound page (versus a more binding say gd auctions offer) is only that.. an offer.. not a contract.. the buyer can chnge his mind 1 minute after making offer. there are tons of emqail offers domainers get which never end in a sale. that being said, the seller certainly should not wait days.. let alone 60 days to finalize this. in which case, imo, the deal will be good as dead. if it is not already.

I hope the deal works out for seller. it'd be an amazing sale for this low end domain in .io extension. however, I do not think it will end in sale based on offer type, delays etc.

all the best

Thanks for your input. I completely agree with you. What would you think such domain is worth? A couple of 100s? Or not worth anything?

Its very hard to believe that , the offer was a real offer. CryptoSilo combination is of-course very good, but the .io takes most of the value out of it. Still, crypto is a hot niche these days and a name like CryptoSilo.io could sell for mid xxx IMO. Again, if you are doing the transaction outside of any marketplace prefer escrow service.
