Crashing server

my server with surspeedy is crashing on average 3 4 times a day and a cuple of periods crashed from 15 to 20 time .

Memory was upgraded from 256 to 512

Can this be the reason for crashes?

If you are using cPanel, you can probably contact them for support. It's easy and free... and they'll go through and find what is causing the problem... and even offer to fix it for you.

the main site is a proxy which gets up to 1000 visits aday

Tech suport at surfspeedy are not too clever send me emails when my server is down to ask me dumb questions or give me link to input my ip adress so i an log into my vps to reboot it. Cant get through to them that it is not switched on! so nato able to find the server!

Whats your Ram and Swap usage like at the time of the crashes?

ram is 512 usually up in high 80% used but noticed the sites that were downloading GBs of data so banned ip so usage of ram only at 28% but the swap drive is constanly getting thrashed swap currently and mostly: Swap Used 1801439421451481600.00 thats a lot of bits!
showing up as using 82% of my space but only used 7.8gb and still have 7.2gb avail but support say i am using 82%.
