Converting photoshop mockup to html...

Hi all,
I have been given a homepage layout in photoshop. Three questions:
1. I'm using the whole layout as a single image without cutting/slicing it into smaller graphics. Is that a bad practice? My image size is 41kb.
2. The layout given to me is exactly what I want, I just have to make the text in the image into links. Can I delete the text layers and insert the links through html onto the appropriate places in the image?i.e Is it at all possible to place text on top of a photoshop-converted-to-gif image thro' code or do I have to keep the layers and convert them to links in Imageready or something?
3. The layout in photoshop is a certain size, which is smaller than normal web browser page sizes. How do I increase the size to fit a standard browser size?If in html, I say <img src ="name-of-layout-image.gif" width=100% height=100%>, the image appears stretched from one side?
Thanks a ton.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Without thinking over it thoroughly I think it's "bad practice" ;O

But I know that alone isn't good critic, so: I think you should cut it into pieces and just build it like you'd build any other site, in whatever language you use

in photoshop use the knife tool, it will cut it up and export the image in a table, then just apply bits of the image to the background so you can put text over the top :)

Cutting is the best..and text in images you can make into links if you do rollover images ....or jsut cutted images...for the last one i think you shoudl use Dremweaver if you ahve it wher you can chage the size and see how it lookes :)
