Hello,

I have question about website content. I have a tech website.

1. Can I take content from other sites like articles and put it on my site, after mentioning the source. Like at the begining of article if I mention that this was taken from <websitename>.com

2. If there is a site that runs forums, and generally you find lot of answers in forum threads. Can I compile the information and again mention that it was taken from that website in header or footer.?

I guess the right approach would be to contact the website for permission. I have tried contacting few, but never get any response.

Thanks

rcep, yes, there are rules that say you can't do it without permission, it's the magic "C" word - Copyright ;)

I would have thought that the site you were getting the articles from would have a copyright notice on it, meaning that the content is copyrighted and, somewhere in the TOS (if they have one) there should be a clause saying that you cannot use the content without permission or something like that.

You want a clear answer? I would have thought that without permission you would not be able to use the content.

Just find some good rss feeds instead of taking content.

SE brings up a good point, I am sure there are many sites on the Internet that have articles that you are free to use. Go to them and search through, you're bound to find something that you need ;)

basicly if i find a nice topic i would share it
if i copy it to the boards and put the source where i got it from leaving the authers credit if it did have one . isnt that enough . anyways in many sites i cabt find any tos

Got a question . can just anyone put this content copy righted and then no one is allowed to take his content . is there any stuff he have to do to put that phrase

finally many times i dont aim to have content to my site i got daily updated content in one section but i still find it limited . cuz sometimes people like to share topics which are from other websites
