Just having a look through TDNAM and saw post9-11world.com with a price tag of $28,000 on it - GoDaddy's "Certified Domain Appraisal" has given it a value of $52.00 - $161.00.

How does someone come up with a figure of nearly 30K when it's valued at under 200 bucks and is less than a year old? The domain has one bid on it but I dunno how much, though I'd like to know.

The truth is, quite frankly, some people have no idea what they are doing. They ask rediculous prices, because they themselves arent capable of accurately determining a price, and they are living in a dream world.

Ignore domains you know arent worth the asking price. Some of them are more obvious then others.

Yeah I do tend to ignore them, I just find it quite amusing how people with slap any old price tag on it!

Those who set silly prices are in essense "digital fishing". They reg the name for $9 or so and then tell themselves, "Heck, it was only $9...so what if nobody wants to pay $1.7MM for ILikeToShootPoolInTheMorning.com...but if they do....

Of course nobody will, but that doesn't stop them from fishing...

My two pennies anyway.

PS - that super-short domain name is available if you want it ;)

They're hoping that some idiot will pay that price & they'll strike it rich. Godaddy's appraisals are always a joke anyway. This name is worth a big fat $0.
