.com is higher than .us , but other things will come into factor. But that's the base. .com = commercial and .us = United States.

Yeah I only buy .com's unless it's a really exceptional .us. It's just much easier to remember a .com and as a result they're much better for branding.

Agree, and people forget and fill the blank with .com is so natural.

Value perse I can't it all depends of the words before the dot. flags.us would deft be more valuable than 4thefoundingfatherweb.com But rule of thumb: A domains is worth, as much some one is willing to pay to own it.

Be careful, both can easily be worth $0.

Actually, both can be worth -$registration fees -the time you put into finding, registering and trying to sell it.

Almost always, .com will be worth more that the same in .us.
The better the name, the bigger the difference.

It all depends on the name. The better the name, the higher the ratio (I think, I have not collected any data to actually verify this).

Come to think of it, this is not always true. You can have a .com that is worth something while the identical .us (and .net, .org, etc.) are not even registered and the .us would be considered worthless by most. For such names, the ratio is mathematically speaking infinite. ($30/0)

There is no formula.

It depends on the term, buyer, and usage.

For the same keyword .com has much more value.

I have always asked myself, is .us used as an alternative of .com in USA or it has its own "space"? Pure curiosity :)

Then you are someone who understands dick about SEO.

A large part of the reason sham developers complain about non .com TLDs is because they're usually working with gigantic keywords in hyper-competitive spaces that were attainable as an exact matching domain in .us or .info, whereas the same in .com was registered by Gary Chernoff in 1995.

They throw up their stupid splog or "Epik minisite", pay the Indians for the "Premium 500 backlink package", spring for a $4.95 monthly plan at hostgator (sharing a server with such web luminaries as Penis-Enlargement-Techniques.info, Forex-TutorialsWorld.com and LegalOnlineXanaxPharmacy.ru) then wonder why their www.Credit-Cards.vn isn't on the P1 for "credit cards" for US originating searchers, what with the "exact keyword match boost" they were hoping for...

Show me an example of a .com outranking a .whatever that isn't readily attributable to a billion, fully established on/off page relevancy signals having nothing to do with the domain.

I know dick about SEO? And this is coming form the guy talking about penis enlargement, online xanax, credit cards. What you think the only market is the spam market? Let me guess the SEO you know is the one you can read on the back of a cereal box? It seems based on your post, that you just look for spammy stuff and try to rank them and it doesn't work?

Before you rant and farm links on posts read the post carefully. You miss the part where I wrote - "with less effort ranked better". While I am not gonna sit down here and show you there is other markets besides drugs, gambling, and adult I am gonna make you comprehend the difference between bad and fail.

Some markets like video games, music, fashion, just to mention a few change very rapidly. While there is an old establish base there is a thing called a new item. In other words a trend. It could be a new song, album, artist, game, game expansion, controller, console that are not establish since 1995. And I have personally worked with productname.us and thisnewproduct.com and have experience the .com outranking, and performing better than the .us that it was intended as the father page. And this is to the extent of only selling the product in US then the rest of the world. In that same way I have worked with domains register 1-2 years ago and outrank 11-12 year old domains with very very similar words. Speaking thexxxxxxx.com over xxxxxxx.com

Now that been said, you can go back to the drawing board and re-think what you doing. Because you are bad at insulting people in forums and a fail thinking the only way to make money is spamming.

But since you ask. Here is one.

To get back to the OP, there is no formula as mentioned already. A .us is not valued at 1/10 of a .com or 1/2 or whatever. Overall, from what I have seen the .us is valued a LOT less than the .com and probably often lucky to get even 1/10 the price of the .com (but again there is no formula).

There are probably very few people alive today in the US that don't know about the .com but there are tons and probably easily more than half the population of the US that don't really know the .us extension exists.

This is very true. I have actually see people using the .us as the term us instead of United States. I think the only domain I know that uses .us and beats the zhi*z out of any is script.aculo.us witch is the JS Framework, del.icio.us and imageshack with the exception of others.

This is amusing babble that hints English is either your third language, or you just have the reading comprehension ability of a small child.

And this...

... proves exactly what I said; that you know precisely dick about SEO.

The .com is a PR3.
The .us is a PR1.
Ergo, those "billion fully established, on/off page factors" I talked about.
The date the domains were registered is as relevant of the price of Potatoes in Punjab.

I'm not going to bother with an in-depth BL portfolio analasys, since the above fact alone tells the tale of the tape, as far as this discussion goes. It's literally SEO: Level 1 and you apparently don't understand even that.

There is no billions of on/off page factors. There is hundreds, and you can even resume it into 10 - 15 factors. Why the guy that has a ugly site, with an ugly code, not even 508 complaint kicking the 4$$ of the guy doing this billions of factors? Why the ugly site with only the guy using twitter and facebook is ranking better than the guy doing the bls campaign? So you going to say that social marketing is one of the factors? You just prove, you really don't know dick about SEO. Comparing the ranking just on the fact of PR. GTFO, that was funny. You didn't say this guy had X more of bls. You said this is PR X and this is PR X. WIN WIN. Where is the usability?

But you know what is funnier Mr. SEO? That you fail to see the 3rd domain in the list. You check the PR but you didn't went and look at the competion. Give a monkey a shirt and call it evolution? You are so full of it, that you didn't even look at the 3rd domain. You kinda need to begin at the top before you do a bl analysis. 2005 call, they want their seo back.

And after a quick search for all your posts, people can see you are just a leecher that know nothing. The first 5 post I found from you all are garbage, why you so angry? If you don't like it here in NP why stay? I am surprised you haven't been removed from this forum. I will tell you the truth, as you like. Stop trying to be a dick because you think is cool. People don't like you, you damage the value of posts and bring them off-topic. If you sit and write content the way you rant on the forums, you could actually get somewhere in life. My last post directed to you, as you got no credibility, and if you had any, is on the toilet now with my launch.

My excuses to the other NPers. I should have not feed the troll.

I'm sure that somewhere in your mind, you're making a raging point, but really, it's coming off as prattle.

Your determining metric for why "com RULZ!!" is that an exact matching .com domain registered in 2009, representing a lightly trafficked but competitive-bid string, outranks the same .us which was registered in 2005, in spite of a dozen other factors that are colossally more relevant. You might want to look into 'logic' and in particular, ideas about correlation and causation.

You can go on with a bunch of nonsense and make charges and claims and create your own narrative about what I am, but it doesn't change the fact that your posts are mostly incoherent, rambling drivel and that which is coherent is amusingly (and undeniably) incorrect.

But go ahead. Reiterate your sterling case about how .com is clearly advantaged in the algo because LocksmithIndianapolis.com was registered in 2009 and outranks the same.us, which was registered in 2005.

LOL. Monkey.

can you mention specific comparison . value ratio of both
IDNX is the best available empirical benchmark of current TLD values. IDNX assigns discounts relative to dot com for a given SLD:
net -75
org -84
info -90
mobi -97
biz -96
de -37
co.uk -74
es -86
eu -81
IDNX does not quote a dot us discount, but if they did, mobi & biz might have to tidy up the living room.

On the non-empirical side, casual observation of liquid (LLL, NNN) wholesale trading suggests a dot us discount of 99.5%. For example LLL.com $5K, same LLL.us $25.
