Commission One Time/ Residuals

I'm working on readjusting my affiliate commissions on my other site (NOT webhosting)

Its a membership based thing and I could offer 100% there first month payment or 20% monthly. Our average visitor stays a member for about 8 months to our service. So If they did monthly it would pay more. But which would look more attractive to protential affiliates.

i'd suggest giving the affiliate the choice.
Some affiliates like the one shot amount, while others like to earn the residuals

Giving the affiliate the choice sounds good, but could be a accounting nightmare.

I would experiment, try listing on some affiliate networks offering 100% of the first month's payment. (never more than 100% so they don't incentive it) Then list on another affiliate network offering 20% a month and see which performs better in terms of overall profit.

I would offer your affiliates a monthly commission... you you could offer.. a few choices when they sign up as an affiliate.
