Well and I prefer to decide in his favour, since I dont know his motivation and his plans. I just like to see the best in everybody :)

hm no, the logical approach then would be to have no opinion at all. but the fact is - most people doing this sort of thing are speculators and have no plans beyond that.

really?!?!? can you name your source for this statistics?

I've always thought most people paying $10k+ for a domain are end users wanting to put a business on it, but it turns out I was wrong for over a decade... :)

i know this post was meant to be sarcastic, but you're assuming the person is an end user. bad assumption considering the buying activity described here by others and the fact that they own 186 other domains according to domaintools.

Did you check, if they own some services? I for example have a main business under one domain and several hundred satelite domains providing traffic for this business, some developed, most not...

This guy spent over $200,000 on domains in the last 2 years. If he has that kind of money to spend, I guess he knows exactly what he is doing...
These people must know what they are doing too:

http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/503840-there-is-no-shortage-suckers-industry.html

And what about the guy who bought for 40K of .xxx domains, many of which are available in all extensions including .com, and the people who wasted 5 or 6 figures on .asia .tel .mobi etc. Doubt they are smiling now :guilty:
There are other examples... we see crazy things in this industry.

Regardless if his investments are sound or not it is his money at the end , but who said he is looking for immediate resale value ?
Nobody. I don't think he's an end user, a domain collector perhaps ?
In my opinion he will left holding the bag, because he has a lot of money tied up in domains of questionable value. I mean, if he changes his mind and want to recoup his money he's out of luck.
You may need to raise money one day, you never know. That's why you should have domains that have some liquidity.
If he had to liquidate the portfolio now, it would be at a huge loss (I think).
I hope the guy realizes he's at the end of the food chain ;)

maybe a domain collector like art collecting which is not liquid as well i guess , and we don't know how much he has maybe he has 50 Million $ or more , at the end yes the price was high but that doesn't mean anything , and it doesn't mean he will not turn it into profit by the years u never know

"you never know" is true but the point is, if hes simply collecting these for speculation then these type of prices are pretty high and other good domains could likely be had for less.

Yes its high , but can you get him women.x for less than 25K ,and maybe he doesn't want to settle for lower quality keyword ...

in domaining it helps to be skeptical rather than optimistic. nobody is trying to be mean really, but giving stuff like this the "benefit of the doubt" is probably not the best way to think because a majority of the time these buying sprees dont end up with any profit.

Sent out some emails a couple weeks ago regarding one of my LLL.co domains, which I priced at $1500. Received a call today offering $500, to which I said $1200. Shortly thereafter they emailed back with $750. I said $1100. Will update if sold. Their website's Alexa rank is around #84,000 so I know they CAN afford it... fingers crossed... :)

Absolutely correct. No correlation between how much money you have and intelligence whatsoever. Intelligence is quite another thing than the skill that is used to accumulate money...

Some people are not only motivated by money.

There are scientists who work for NASA because they are more interested in science than working for a defense contractor making 4X the salary.

I am just saying there is no major correlation between money and intelligence.

I think there's some correlation based on my experience.

You don't acquire skills without intelligence. Business acumen is part of intelligence.

It's true that you don't need intelligence to be born in a rich family or win a lottery ticket. But if you want to make money you need some 'thing' that not everyone has.

Vinamilk is the biggest dairy company in Vietnam. Based on the UNDP 2007 Top 200 largest firms in Vietnam report, it is also the 15th largest company in Vietnam. In 2010, it is the first company in Vietnam to be included in the Forbes Asia's 200 Best Under A Billion list that highlights 200 top-performing small- and mid-sized companies with annual revenue under US$1 billion.

Current Bid: 10.000$

I doubt it's a real bid. It's also blatant TM infringment!

Yeah it's not even a real bid. It's just a BIN.

Reminds of the guy who's on Facebook groups posting that he got 1xx,xxxGBP offers on his portfolio and asks domainers to beat it.
