This could truly be a big competitor to .COM (especially being a "typo").
I would say with proper guidance .CO could REALLY have a bright future!

How can it be an old article if it was posted today? The article you're talking about is this.

It's old because they're talking about old news. You notice there is no author either? Maybe it's more of a press release than an actual article, the site looks like kind of a press release dump or a place pr companies use for "articles", no comments on the site either, it's rare if you find one. And when you do, it's usually from a spammer. Also, .co is an advertiser on the site it looks like, from looking at the magazine online.

I don't know, it looks kinda legit to me. It's a UK-based website, covers all kinds of news (politics, EU, etc.) and all have no author. Maybe it's just not well known and that would explain the shortage of comments.

I'm talking about old, this is what I mean. The article you just linked to as something new, mentions:

"According to a recent Overstock press release, “the introduction of O.co highlights Overstock.com’s growth into a globally recognised brand that is synonymous with the ‘O’ and is a natural transition of the company’s brand to a universally understandable and relevant domain.”

Look at the date from the press release - it's from Jan. 20, 2011. That's over a year old. That's last year. It's old.

Ok, they added some new info, to an old pr piece. At the same time, they should have removed the urls that don't even resolve, z.co, k.co, that's not a good look and remove the old information about Overstock. Because leaving a failure in a pr piece is kinda sloppy.

I'm not 100% certain but I see a lot of expired auctions on Godaddy and so people are dropping them but they are being bought as far as I can tell in the $30-40 range. These are pretty ugly ones too.

Never would do that with .co. If it is a hand-reg, Ok. Developing, yes. OK. Otherwise forget about it. If you want to sell .co you have to have the BEST keywords. That is the state of the market.

Has anyone else noticed an upsurge in inquiries?

I went sometimes a month or two with no bites then in the last 3 days I get 4 inquiries for different .co domains. 2 of them for lll.co and the other 2 for single word brandable....all from end users...well one I'm not sure of.

I would never register a domain based on the thought that the owner of another extention might buy it.
