This could truly be a big competitor to .COM (especially being a "typo").
I would say with proper guidance .CO could REALLY have a bright future!

In .com they'd be worth a bit, but now in .co it's still a bit low. If I hang on to them for a few years, would the rise in "rarity" and value increase more than the heavy renew price. IMO you should focus strong 1-worders, that's where the value is.

hello, I'm from Colombia, and here .CO domains don't seem to be very popular, most people and businesses choose .COM and some choose .COM.CO... a few years ago it was not possible to buy YOURNAME.CO even here in Colombia, you could only buy .COM.CO/.NET.CO/.ORG.CO from a single organization (a private university), but now I see the .CO domains are everywhere, and they are being promoted as if .CO was the next .COM... I'm not sure they are very valuable, most Internet users still think .COM is the only TLD around

If you look at the whois, the owner also owns on.com.co, so they probably got the .co as a grandfathering acquisition (all the .com.co owners had the right to get the .co counterpart).

I guess I'm more surprised that it is at GoDaddy Expired auction. I would have thought that COINTERNET would have taken it back. I guess there's no agreement in place to have GoDaddy return expired LL.co

Just seems odd.

On.com.co doesn't resolve for me either. Wouldn't be that surprised if this hits XX,XXX.

Also if this was a founder's distribution, there may be something in the TOS that gives the .co registry the right to grab back the domain should it expire, which means that the buyer might end up with a bunch of nothing, minus $X,XXX.

I completely agree. This auction has to be bull****. I have been victim to this type of Shenanigans before. The previous owner has 7 days to re-register the name even after the auction is complete and the winning bidder has paid in full. It recently happen to me with a premium llll.com on godaddy. One day after the auction closed and I paid in full, I get an email saying the owner has registered the name and they gave me a refund. Whoever owns this name is using this as a ploy to sell the name for a premium price in the near future. They get an accurate appraisal and multiple interested buyers at the same time. Think about it.

This line of thinking is not always correct.

It's my belief that this domain will indeed expire and not be renewed. I contacted Lori regarding this issue and will report back to all you .co fanatics
