.CM registration madness

Hello,

There is much talk right now about short domains, numeric domains, and Chinese patterns in general.
Apparently people are buying those names left and right, in popular extensions like .com, .net, .org but also in outlier TLDs. I am tracking a lot of extensions and I noticed activity in less popular extensions too.

For instance I noticed that .CM (Cameroon) has been gaining a lot of regs lately.

From my dealings with Chinese investors, I can tell you they all are tough negotiators, very smart and well educated. Sure most of them may not speak English very well, but try learning Chinese!

Yes, buying up names in other extensions is probably not the most sensible thing you can do right now unless you know what you are doing and know what the Chinese are after (premium numerics)

Stick with COM in this case, this is not like buying dictionary gTLDs ..

Half the time, the redirect and whois didn't work. A REAL fustercluck!!!

My registrar (Domainmonster) threw up its corporate hands and dropped .cm from its offerings.

So I decided to allow the domain to expire because if my trusted registrar was bailing from .cm, so was I.

just FYI, if CCTLD, get a lot trafic from outside the country, the DNS will have error , I hope CHinese ppl know that

it happen with CCtld dot US, but maybe dot CM have different story! but, buying cctld and geting trafic outside their country is not wise!
