I asked about this domain last year.

I think that this year there is much more awareness about cloud computing.

I'm thinking about file sharing services primarily, which is something quite specific.

The ideal scenario is that a big player names or describes one of their products in that way.

Good pick for the long hold

IMHO cloud computing is here to stay so this is a good generic domain, however, "Cloud as a Commodity" is still more buzz than reality so current value is low but not worthless.

I think if cloud resources are ever sold or traded as a commodity then this domain could be worth something if it were developed or sold to a cloud brokerage firm. I think it's good pick for the long haul if your willing to stick with the reg fees for 5+ years. I think cloud as a commodity could be popular among companies big and small for seasonal ramp up (i.e retailers who need short term computing resources for holidays) or for other scaling of resources. :imho: That's may take on it. Sorry I can't provide a $ amount though.

Thought I'd revive this thread a year + on...

The 'cloud' concept has certainly evovled and I've come across a business with a similar (possible better) domain name: cloudshare.com

But I think that Skeeter's comments are still relevant -- 'cloud shares' doesn't mean much to me still.

Or maybe this would be a good name for a file sharing service?

It's an okay brandable. Plural makes it less desirable. There's a few registered US trademarks on "Cloudshare", so you'd need to be cautious about its use. Conversely, multiple similar registered marks shows that end users for this type of name exist. Nevertheless, reseller value is low to none. I'd carefully target potential end users with prices in the area of $250-$400.
