I have been in tech sales for over ten years now and currently work for a major IT player is the SAS market. Cloud computing will be the biggest thing since the internet was invented.
It will be a game changer in the SMB market and as far as the consumer market goes they are already in the cloud.
Yes, it's going to be huge. I've been watching the cloud chatter pickup on Twitter recently. MediaTemple has a great product at $20/month.
Do you mean their
GRID service which is, according to them "Cluster-based":

I actually use mediatemple, they are good. But I wonder how long until they rename the grid ( cluster based ) service to a cloud ( grid based ( cluster based ) ) service.
cloud = super computer composed of huge numbers of servers, on which you rent space and cpu time
cluster = super computer composed of huge numbers of servers, on which you rent space and cpu time
grid = super computer composed of huge numbers of servers, on which you rent space and cpu time
mainframe = super computer composed of one huge box, on which you rent space and cpu time
The cloud offerings that are out there, vary greatly. AFAIK, on the amazon cloud, you can create your own virtual server instances, and do what you like. On the google cloud, you must use python and their database system ( which isn't relational, MS are promising to deliver a relational DB on their cloud, but it's still vapourware at this point ).
'Cloud Computing' is the marketing term of the moment, despite lacking a formal definition

Cloud Computing: Very old idea, new name. With massive vendors starting to offer this very old idea as a service, the hosting game may change. The server game may change. I don't think it will affect the domaining game, other than being another keyword ( which as previously stated, has already been registered for most of this decade )
