Which type of the Chinese language is used in China.

- Is it Traditonal or Simplified?

- What is the difference between the two?

- Which is suited for creating domain names?

SC is mainly mainland China.

TC covers southern China ,Taiwan, Hong kong , Singapore , Malaysia etc.

SC is exactly what it says , some of the character strokes that were used in TC have been omitted although many characters are interchangeable, even for Japanese.

So, if it is a character(s) that are interchangeable it really does not matter. If for mainland use make sure it is SC.

Simplified is used in China; Traditional is used in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
They are different coding - GB2132 for Simplified and BIG5 for Traditional.

What to choose depends on your target audience.

不動産 - this is the kanji for real estate
【ふどうさん】 - this is how you pronounce it
fudousan - this is how you would spell it if you were an english speaker

I want to correct one thing here. Singapore uses simplified just as the Mainland China.
And it is always good to refer to wiki for details.

Even some people from the mainland like me prefer traditional over simplified, there's no doubt simplified will give you a better return in domain investment given the economic promise of PRC compared to Taiwan or Singapore. As already part of PRC, Hong Kong and Macau, even though still stick to Traditional Chinese, accept Simplified if they want to deal business with their countrymen outside HK and MA themselves, which is true in most cases.

Even that is not absolutely clear. If you are relying on SERP, then the status of both is just about the same in all of the Major Search Engines. It could be that for some developed sites Traditional Function pretty well in the PRC. I think you will see greater use of the Traditional Characters by some of the cities for example, for promoting Tourism.

Are you kidding me? 商业 returns 133,000,000 results while 商業 returns only 21,500,000. 6 times! And try whatever phrases you like, unless it is a Taiwanese slang, traditional is hardly getting more than the simplifed.

Huh, are you physically from China? Comparing a writing script of 1.3 billion to 30 million, you tell me the result. :hehe:

No I am not from China, I am in the UK. This is what I am seeing in Google:

And in Baidu if I search on 商業, I get this:

Huh, you need to search both 商业 and 商業 on google. Baidu ignores the difference between the 2. If you search 商業 on baidu it will automatically change it to 商业 and then search the web.
I am in US BTW, so the results might be slightly different but no doubt simplifed is way more than traditional in terms of SERP.

Huh, you need to search both 商业 and 商業 on the same search engine. But you searched baidu for 商业 and compared it with 商業 in google.

No, I gave you both for Google. But if I input Traditional into Baidu it actually return results for Simplified. From the UK at least Traditional and Simplified are returning the same results in both Search Engines. Things can get complicated when results are Geotargeted, so of course I am interest in what results people are getting from different geographical locations.
