I believe only short and easy-to-remember domain names are sustainable, regardless of where in the world you live and which cultural background you come from.

Now that the Chinese domain market has become a hot topic, I myself want to understand this trend too. Is there any real meaning behind each domain name sold in China? Here, I'd like to share with you what I've found as I read the Chinese news everyday.

GZX.com
GZX can stand for 更自信 (even more self-confident) which can be used in many fields such as education, self-help, and even consumer products to raise your self image.

XLY.com
XLY can stand for 夏令营 (summer camp) or 新领域 (new field) which can be used in recreation and high-tech products.

I rarely come across numeric domains beyond 4N used by Chinese end users. This is a niche that I don't understand so I have never invested in any numeric domain.

@Kassey Lee Acquired SF21.com.

I know from researching your posts that 21 rhymes with 爱医 (love doctor), 爱意 (love), 爱衣 (love clothes), and 爱一 (love one), now what about SF? It looks like it can have a lot of different meanings but the most common that I've seen has been for 私服 SiFu (Private Server) which is very common in gaming and many CN sites related to gaming servers start with SF or end with SF. Any other meanings for SF you think would work?

A quick check suggested that SF is an acronym for more than 50 Pinyin expressions, such as Shen Fen (身份=identify), Shuang Fang (双方=both parties), and Shu Fu (舒服=comfortable).

These days I don't bother to show Chinese meanings of my 4C domains which I own many. I just listed them with BIN on Afternic (fast transfer) and wait for money to come into my bank account. I sold an LLNN domain last week for $2980 but no meaning was given.

Sounds like a nice life with LLNN.com :xf.grin::xf.grin::xf.grin:

Lol, it won't let me clear that image. That's me on Apex though :xf.cool:.

BBJN.COM
@Kassey Lee really like the BB double letter at the start of this one, I know it's commonly used as 宝宝(baby) but there is probably many other meanings that could be derived from it. JN is also an interesting ending it could work for business based in Jinan济南.

What do you think?

It's an excellent domain, imho. BB is good both the the west and China. (Remember the branding story of changing from Strawberry to BlackBerry?)

I won't put Bao Bao (宝宝) and Jinan济南 together. They don't make a good brand. Instead, I'd try Bao Bao Ji Neng (宝宝技能=baby skills). Imagine how many parents would love their babies to acquire skills as early as possible to become smart kids! Products, virtual training courses, etc.

Acquired my first 2-PIN domain, MaiKou.com.

Any thoughts on it's potential uses?

Other combinations are possible but I don't have time to try. As I have said many times, you need to do your research before acquiring a domain -- not after.

I always do but sometimes it's not easy to decipher which is why I ask native speakers. Tlds taken, extensions developed etc, extensions for sale etc all of are done prior to acquisition. I also check here:

I was just looking for additional insight, nothing else.

Recently kouzhao.com (Means Mask in chinese) sold for 100s of thousands of dollars. So I bought 8kouzhao.com.

What do you think about this?

@Kassey Lee

Upped my game a bit on Chinese 4L quad premiums, but this one is western also with its ABBB pattern.

Acquired: SNNN.COM

Based on my research it could have multiple different meanings and maybe even some GEO potential since SN is Shaanxi 陕西 and NN could be Nanning 南宁. In terms on internet slang I see NN being used as slang for "You Can" and NNN being used for "Your Grandmother".

So my guess is best use cases would be geo related i.e SN Shaanxi 陕西+NN (commercial use case that works in pinyin)
or
SN(commercial use that works in pinyin)+ Nanning 南宁

Does that make sense or is there additional meaning that can be extracted from this?

I don't know without research. 4L .com domains are actually used in corporate China.

My research showed a lot of geo based usage with SN but NN provided varied use IMHO. In terms of ABBB Quad CHIPs in general a lot of them are under lock and key with the majority being held by Chinese registrants. With only 656 possible combinations it's a very rare pattern to try and acquire.
