I believe only short and easy-to-remember domain names are sustainable, regardless of where in the world you live and which cultural background you come from.

Now that the Chinese domain market has become a hot topic, I myself want to understand this trend too. Is there any real meaning behind each domain name sold in China? Here, I'd like to share with you what I've found as I read the Chinese news everyday.

GZX.com
GZX can stand for 更自信 (even more self-confident) which can be used in many fields such as education, self-help, and even consumer products to raise your self image.

XLY.com
XLY can stand for 夏令营 (summer camp) or 新领域 (new field) which can be used in recreation and high-tech products.

Why exactly are your flipping out so much? I don't think kassey ever said not to buy domains. I've shared ideas with kassey on other threads and that's all it is - IDEAS. No one knows what the best extensions are exactly, but we have the ideas. I've been buying pinyin for some time now, and I believe kassey has too! We all have disagreements from time to time as well, but I believe he is really putting his money where his mouth is.

You r entitled to your opinion...... too much manipulation in this thread. Don't fall for it. I get offers on number/letter combos that haven't been introduced to namepros.. so the market is alive and well... go ahead, get scared and sell cheap... ill shut up now so i can buy your worthless chips for cheap, send a few emails, then ill 888 all the way to the bank! the "advice"- in the long run, isn't here for you... I have zero issues calling someone's bluff.

I'm still not sure about Chinese government's proposed regulation on domain name management. According to further clarification from the government, "websites that are connected within China should have their domain name registered within the country" (在境內接入的網站應使用境內注冊的域名,) Does it actually mean websites hosted on web servers located within China must have their domain names registered within the country?

GuoMai (果麦) built a successful business on Guomai.cc (note: .cc extension) and just received B Series funding. http://news.ename.cn/yuming_20160331_103810_1.html

eName selling .cn for as little as 18 CNY (US$ 2.8). No wonder .cn skyrocketing in registrations.

I think it means any business with a Chinese address and website must host on servers with domains from approved registries. The consequence is that any Chinese owned website running on foreign servers or unapproved extensions will be fined over $4,000.

"websites that are connected within China should have their domain name registered within the country"

Only need to use Chinese registrar? That's what the quote means to an individual like me . So, they can't have domains registered at godaddy, for example? But they can still use .com as long as is it's registered at a Chinese company?

Do you think there's a misunderstanding of domain terminology? I doubt most website owners even know that there's a REGISTRY (not to be confused with 'registrar') behind their domain.

I think that any person living in china, with a website that resolves needs to have that domain with a Chinese approved registry, using a Chinese registrar, and hosted in china.

It's not clear at this moment. My guess is that if you want to host your website on a web server in China (for good performance), the domain name must be registered with a registrar inside China (then, the government has your information). If you don't care about the slow speed (or even firewall) for Chinese people to access your contents hosted on a server outside China, then the Chinese government is OK with it.

That is pure conjecture. China is about expansion in all areas, trade being foremost "slow speed (or even firewall)" would be reciprocated (tit 4 tat) and damaging to China, a technological (satellite) cold war play is one China would lose, better to keep internal dialog internal.

The name contains a vowel ('a') so not a typical of Chinese acronym. BAT is a common term and refers to the three Internet giants in China (Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent). People are talking about the 4th giant that's up and coming, but I could not think any such candidate starting with P. Sorry, not much help.
