I believe only short and easy-to-remember domain names are sustainable, regardless of where in the world you live and which cultural background you come from.

Now that the Chinese domain market has become a hot topic, I myself want to understand this trend too. Is there any real meaning behind each domain name sold in China? Here, I'd like to share with you what I've found as I read the Chinese news everyday.

GZX.com
GZX can stand for 更自信 (even more self-confident) which can be used in many fields such as education, self-help, and even consumer products to raise your self image.

XLY.com
XLY can stand for 夏令营 (summer camp) or 新领域 (new field) which can be used in recreation and high-tech products.

I'm biased because I don't own any Pinyin domain name. Before you acquire a Pinyin name, make sure you get the Chinese characters so that you can later easily ask any Chinese for confirmation. Chinese don't read Pinyin words usually. We use Chinese characters instead.

I doubt.

Many companies are running their business on .net. See the latest news on .net and use Google Translate to help you get a rough idea.

I have a chart from 0 to 99 which will be included in an upcoming blog post.

That's interesting. I've been using it all my life since elementary school. These days, Chinese input is very easy. Just speak to Siri, Google Now or Cortana and they'll transcribe the Chinese characters. See this quick demo.

English. That's why I focus on the whole world but not just China when acquiring domain names.

China has a potential to grow from the current 30m to 500m domain names. Many short names will be accepted, imo, but it takes time to grow the market.

That's the right move and I'm sure every Chinese thinks the same way. Although there are no definites in anything is there? so there will be some who buy chinese characters I think? or impossible?

the 2 zeros at thee end now so sure. I hear zeros are not great but not bad. but I don't know I hear it's neutral neither bad nor good. but to chinese it doesn't matter if it's neutral bacause all that matters is LUCKY.

if they ask ummm is 00? and thee answer is "ehhhh not really maybe it's neutral neither bad nor good" what do you think they will say? lol

Cheers

Yes the link is on kassey's thread. But really all you have to do is look at the domains geared towards the chinese like 4L's and 5n and 6n's for sale on np and should be obvious .net is second to .com, Right?

As I've posted many times the zero is not an issue.

Like I stated before Google is Banned in China. Do you think the Chinese would rather use GOOGLE? of course they would! Google is AWESOME!

So are the English language characters A,B,C,X,Y,Z. Awesome!

But just like how the Chinese banned AWESOME Google. Couldn't China also BAN AWESOME western character domains?

under the premise of China Pride? or simply for Chinese ease of use since most Chinese SPEAK and READ Chinese?

The Chinese Gov. Banning Google is a perfect example of China opening it's doors to the west and then cherry picking what they allow IN and what they BLOCK.

No PORN. NO GAMBLING. You know all the stuff that makes the WEST AWESOME.

what else? can anyone else add to this list?
Do not agree with your comments. Why do you invest in China if you do not like the modus operandi. I suggest you read up on China (Empress Dowager Cixi by Jung Chang & Deng Xiapings biography)

no no. I DO LIKE IT. you got me wrong. I'm HOPING that China heads in the direction that it forces companies to have Chinese character domains. because I own a ton of them. and great keywords too.

why would NEXT be desirable as a keyword for a domain in china? I'm interested.

This is what i found on the web about XYZ;

" In China specifically, XYZ is an acronym for the phrase “Xiǎoyǔzhòu,” which translates into “little universe” — a great encapsulation of what the open, global internet is "
